I have to replace a cracked windshield in my 2016. I have read that alot of the aftermarket replacements are chinese manufactured. Anybody have any experiences with replacement windshields? This is the first vehicle i have ever had to replace a windshield in.

If you get the OEM Pilkington you will pay close to $900 if not more. If you get the same exact glass from Pilkington with the Toyota logo blacked out, you will pay $400-$700. You literally pay for the Toyota logo.

Some people swear safelite has great replacements, others say otherwise.

But be wary about your front facing sensors if applicable. Always safe to go OEM, but shop around.

    Don't buy a Safelite.

They're well known for being crap replacements, i.e...you get what you pay for.

I am located in Canada. Here Speedy and Apple are the two most common glass shops. I believe they are owned by the same company as Safelite though.

Have them order OEM Pilkington, or at least get a quote and feel free to share it with us.

Have PGW on mine, no issues. It's held up better to road debris than the OEM glass ever did...

Same, PGW Soundmaster and it's holding up very well. The only issue I have is that from the outside, the curvature at the very upper corners looks a little off (so reflections look weird, like warped the wrong way). I've seen others on here with similar issues with other brands of glass, so it might be the installation, might be the fitment, I don't know. It doesn't leak though, and you can't see it from inside, so I didn't bother to have them redo it.

Got my 2019 replaced this weekend with Safelite. They went with Pilkington and it is clearly stronger than OEM as a rock hit it yesterday and was loud as shit, and only left a small barely noticeable nick. OEM was like butter. Like the size of a pin head small. They did the calibration and the radar/lane keep alert works just fine.

I will also add in to make sure it's sealed properly. I've had replacement on another car in the past where I got an annoying wind noise after glass replacement

Just had mine replaced yesterday by Safelite. Looks fine to me... didn’t look at glass brand but will report back when I get back to my truck. About $350.

I can't remember when I have had to pay to replace a windshield, but I've got full coverage too.

Replaced mine with a Pilkington. GoPro mount is present but does not have the logo. Install was done by our in house glass repair guys at the dealership I work at. Was $317 installed. Granted I do get a discount on the parts/labor. I would not install a Safelight glass in my truck. Way to much distortion in the glass from what I have seen in the past.

Safelite used Pilkington with mine and it has been excellent so far.

Replaced my 17 with oem Toyota pilkington for $900. If you get it without the “Toyota” logo it’ll be around $500. My insurance covered everything FYI.

    That’s what I did lol

$120 installed here in SoCal. Seems like better quality than the oem.

Just checked what Safelite put in mine yesterday - Pilkington. So I guess Toyota glass without the Toyota logo. ($335.02 installed). Not bad... less than my deductible.

Had mine replaced this afternoon. Looks like they did a good job. Its a Vitro windshield. DOT 287. Mexico produced according to that DOT #. Will see how this one holds up. Only visual difference is no GoPro logo on the camera mount. Otherwise wouldnt know the difference.

$720 for the Safelite install?? Whoa.... they did mine for $335.02 (Glass and installed). And they came to my house to do it. Was the bulk of that the TSS Camera?! I thought that was just integrated into the mirror (my 2017 doesn't have TSS)
