    Hi All.
I had to replace my windshield wiper connecting rod last week on my '03 Tacoma due to the old one having turned to rust.

Pretty easy, however my wipers now take a back-swing (I guess forward swing in this case) of about 1-1.5". So, they rotate forward before making their sweep over the window. Of course being put at their normal position before the replacement, this means they go over the grill just a bit.

I don't remember this or any other vehicle taking this forward-swing. Also it seems like the driver side wiper especially is only making it 2/3 of the way up for normal position

When I was trying to remove the old linkage bolt from the motor, I slipped with the vice grips and the motor rotated a bit a few times. I tried to posistion it about the same when I reassembled.

Am I right that I must have got the motor in an incorrect position and it is seeking some sort of limit switch when it makes that forward swing? And if so, is there an easy way to locate the correct starting point or will it be trial and error?

    Thank you for any help!]
    Shaun

Rebuilding seats with leather from furniture and extra padding. Might put leather on the dash and other interior parts.
There are some youtubes that address wiper transmission problems.

Personally, I would do the trial/error method
However, looks like there is a way to reset wiper motor to correct start position
    Now this is 1996 book/instructions
    Quite possibly the same
    Hope helps
