My 05 tacoma makes a humming noise more noticeable when the wipers are on high. Not so much on low speed but on high it is definitely noticeable inside the cab. It sounds like noise the motor may be making. Does yours make the same noise or do I need to replace some parts?
    Thank you

I,ve had great luck using RainX, and not really using wipers at speeds above about 45. If it is rains hard enuf to put wipers on high I can,t hear the wiper motor due to rain noise.
Don,t know if this helps, it is just what I do.......

I tried the windshield glass polishing approach with replacement of wiper blades and it did not change the noise.
My dealer says lots of wiper transmission failures causing noise. They want
    $400. Suggest these diagnostic steps
    1. Watch The movement of both blades to make sure that there is no irregularity to the back-and-forth swiping of the windshield. Irregularity or seizing up suggests a motor and/or Transmission problem
    2. Make sure wiper blades are ok— Lift both wiper mechanisms into the “off the glass position“. Turn the wipers on and if noise persists, wiper transmission is the most likely cause

Anyone know how to find a reliable replacement wiper transmission that gets around the $270 dealer price tag?

Did you search online? There are a bunch of them online for far less than $270.00

    05-08 had 2 different options.

    85110-04040 w/ Cold Climate Spec.
    85110-0K060 w/out Cold Climate Spec.

2009 -2014 used the 85110-04040 Cold Weather Spec.

Now we just need to figure out how to tell the difference between w/ and w/o Cold Weather Spec.
Other than pulling the motor and looking for a Part#

I’ve found them regularly online in the $170.00 range.

You should double check the part number yourself.
    But this is my findings.
