Would you rather spend $45K on a new Gen 4 SR5 or $35K on a sub 50K mile Gen 2 TRDOR?

I would not pay that much for either. I think you can also get the new 4th Gen for less than $45k based on discounts that others are reporting.

If you're looking to go back in time, get the 3rd gen. The 4th gen Tacomas are heads above the 3rds.

That’s $50,500 today. What people paid years ago isn’t reflective of reality anymore

but still the sr5 should be able to be had for less. I paid 51k for an OR-premium last month.

I’d absolutely buy the 4g before spending $35k on a decade+ old truck

Sure but you could probably find a 2022 or with good mileage or just a 3rd gen in general

I loved my 2nd Gen truck but a 2nd gen truck is old today. The motor may run a million miles but all the ancillary parts certainly won’t. Hoses, belts, sensors, etc… you’re going to be dealing those pesky things a lot more often on a 2 gen today. A lot of those parts wear out over time regardless of mileage.
Some people are fine with that and enjoy the upkeep process but I’d rather have the 4th gen.

If you end up buying a 4th Gen don’t pay anywhere near MSRP. In Oregon here is a Pro advertised at $3579 off of MSRP.

Sure, or you could buy a 4G. It’s such a personal decision loaded with our own biases, myths, preferences, and financial comfort that it’s impossible to say which is best for anyone but ourselves

Right Toyota in Snobsdale has all their 4th gens discounted under msrp, but with a $650 doc fee.

I'd take the 35K or 45k and trade my 3rd gen on something else. Maybe a GX550 or something sporty. :burnrubber:

    I'd pick up a new SR 4x4 for $35K or a new SR5 4x4 for $38K.

The GX 550’s around here are over $100,000

I guess the GX 550 is the new C8.

Lexus Snobsdale has informed me about a wait list for them and that several hundred people are ahead of me with deposits. Their lot is darn near empty right now too.
