It would be nice to have a thread that focuses just on the changes from one model year to another.

What new factory technologies, suspension, drivetrain, cosmetic parts or improvements that are made from 16 to 17...18 and so on.

Furthermore what changes that can bolt right on or be compatible with different trim packages.

Just saw in another thread that in the 2019's they quit installing the storage compartment on the drivers side of the bed. Don't know yet it this was a fluke or it's all trim levels.

Unlike 2nd gens, my 2018 (and 2019's) the bed doesn't have the front accessory rail.

I believe TSS began in 2018 models (lane departure and adaptive cruise control)

Well a few threads down it seems toyota deleted a bed compartment. There’s that. That’s my contribution to the thread.

To respond to what you wrote, yes, it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to model year changes. However, this is the third gen section. So this thread will be information the first page, a fight about fords the second, then it’ll get fun, and before you know it someone mentions disc brakes. Much like how the sun fuses hydrogen, then helium, then carbon, eventually getting to iron, which it can’t fuse, it will die... this is the life cycle of threads, and brakes are the elemental iron that destroy us all.

    Stock and staying that way
There are others, like colors, but off the top of my head.

    2016 --> 2017 - electric sliding rear window.

2017 --> 2018 - Power tailgate lock option, TSS. No more JBL option on Limited.

2018 --> 2019 - No cubbie on drivers side of bed. Added snorkel.

And there’s the 5MT that Toyota dumped. I think 2017 was the last year it was made?

2016 There was not a Pro.
2017 Pro was available with its exclusive color Cement.
2018 Cement became a non Pro color available on Sport and OR. Cavalry Blue was added for the Pro
2019 Cavalry blue becomes a Sport and OR color and Pro now has Voodoo Blue.
    2019 Deleted Inferno and BBP.

2019 SR will have the V6 as an option, as well as a SX package which adds black fender flares and black door handles. It appears the SX package is only on Access Cabs.

2016 has a separate key for tailgate where as 2017 shares the fob key.

Looks like the SX, is only available in AC trim. Must be an American thing.

2019 moonroof trucks have microphone for bluetooth in the roof now.

2017 to 2018, Power sliding window switch moved from left side of driver dash to the center dash.

2018 Premium and Tech package seperated. 2016-17 it was one in the same and had cloth seats, JBL was also an option for 16-17. 2018 Premium package became leather, dual climo, heated seats, moonroof and standard JBL, seperate from Tech package which is BSM, Rear Sonar, Color keyed bumper.

2018's lost the shelf in the glovebox.

2018 Power sliding window became standard for SR5 as well as TRD.

2017s lost some zerk fittings on driveshaft

Another small difference from 2nd gen interior... and I don't know about 16-17, but my 2018 doesn't have the flash light holder and little shelf behind the passenger rear seat. It's just one large open space behind the entire seat.

The 2019 also eliminated the rear view mirror with home link and compass except on the limited. I never knew how much I looked at that compass until it was gone. Miss my tie down cubby in bed as well.

I was told it wasn’t even an option for the 18 other than the limited and pro when I bought my OR.
