05 taco DRL Blown Lamps!!!

I have an 05 Tacoma and I'm constantly buying new lamps every few months because of the daytime running lights. Is there any way of bypassing the DRL feature? The least invasive the better. I've looked around and I'm having a hard time any info on the subject. Thanks for any help.

I recently installed DRLs on my 07 PreRunner. It requires that you replace a relay and a jumper underneath the dash...

If you were to get a hold of a standard set (junkyard or parts dept.) you could reverse the process and have a "factory" setup without any real major modifications.

I will have to do some research to see what the part #s are that you need, but it is completely doable. You just need to reverse the process that I did in this thread: 05+ DRL Install

Are they factory DRL'S or a mod that you performed? Especially if there factory, I would have your electrical system checked, most importantly your alternator/voltage regulator as this could lead to bigger problems down the road. I've had my factory DRL's for almost a year and have yet to replace them.

 

Hey 007 just took a look at your DRL install very clean and well done just one question.. whats that little red button next to your automatic mirror switches?

 

My truck came with an upgraded alarm system. It has the shock sensor, ignition disable, and a little LED light + Switch on the dash. The alarm is a little over sensitive, but otherwise I like the system. I have found that it automatically resets when you plug the battery back in.

Scared the crap out of me.

 

Yeah, this should be the case for almost all of them. I had factory DRLs on many prior vehicles, and I have put hundreds of thousands of miles on them without ever replacing a bulb (aside from the occasional headlight).

I would go with flyman767's advice and get the electrical system checked - especially if you like having DRLs.
