I believe you have to re-program the keys, at least that's what the dealer told me, and it doesn't work on MTs for some reason.

I have the MT and was going to install this. My guess is there is no place to mount the microphone because of the clutch cancel start button takes up the only blank that would be available...sucks, maybe there is more to it idk.

I know I had one installed on a 2009 SR5 with MT, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Hi guys. I just picked up a 2019 TRD Off Road Tacoma. When I got my 4Runner a few years ago there was a Port-installed alarm with glass break sensor installed. To have it turned on it cost me $250 and the salesman just used a remote to activate it.

Is there a way to tell if my truck has the GBS? Secondly is there a DIY to activate them if they were installed but not activated? I bought my truck though a broker who bought it from a dealer.

    Thanks so much!

The Toyota OEM GBS is a switch blank with a small microphone that is labeled Toyota Security. In the 2018s it is meant to be installed to the lower left of the steering wheel.
If it's there, it should be functional without activation.

But first step is, do you have the Toyota alarm stickers on the front seat side windows? If the alarm was factory installed, you should have those.

    All:

The GBS provides an added level of security as will sound your alarm when you tap on any window with a key. The OEM GBS is installed in my 2017 4WD Limited Taco as pictured below:

Hello folks from TW, I have a problem with my alarm system and wonder if you guys can help. I bought a 2019 Taco SR5 and tried to install the GBS using the V2 guide, which instructed to discard the dummy hood switch jumper since my taco doesn't even have the harness in the front. My hood latch doesn't have the alarm harness nor microswitch that tell my ECU the hood status. I installed the GBS and module from the OEM package and activated the security system with Techstream. However, upon activation, the hood ajar warning appears on my dash, and I cannot arm my alarm with the hood ajar error. Does anyone have any solution to the problem? Thank you in advance.

Kinda confusing but, I think I understand. For my 2018 TRD OR, basically all we need is the GBS ECU, and whatever interface harness comes with it. provided your 2018 already has the factory alarm system. when I search the part number posted it comes up with the complete keyless security system. Amazon shows just the components of the GBS, no harness.
I havent taken the panels off yet but I figure there has to be a connector or two unused where the GBS ECU will be located.
