2WD Snow Tires? Any Suggestions?

Hi,

I just picked up a set of 5 spoke 2wd wheels on e-pay for short money. After checking the local junkyards for a year or so I gave up and bought them. I am looking for an old school set of snow tires, not an all 4 corner winter set, just your basic, extra pair for the winter.

Any body got any suggestions? Brands? deals?

i had a set of winter force tires off tire rack on a 2wd toy once worked pretty good... not sure how pricey they are anymore but they used to be cheaper than a standard tire

 

check tire shops for used tires

 

I am a fan of Coopers, they have a mud & snow tire that I feel work as good as any, and if your area allows it these tires take studs, one rule of thumb, winter tires should be studable, two: they have a softer rubber compound so milage is short lived, best to swap out at the end of the winter season, sounds like that was your plan anyway. Three: sipes, these are the swiggly little grooves in the blocks of the tires, they open up during braking an give more biting edges. Tires are expensive, don't sell yourself short on cheap tires ESPECIALLY in winter, this when you want your tires to perform there best, conditions are at there worst, be at your best.
