    I feel like the OEM plastic one swells up a bit (or gets pinched) due to different expansion/retraction rates between the engine and the plastic housing making it tough to loosen up, or thread back in.

    Anyone ever have issues with the threads on the aluminum housing galling up after use? Just read something in some Amazon answers regarding why Toyota discontinued the aluminum version in favor of the plastic we see now. Got me curious.

    Could be. Aluminum is a pretty good heat sink so no idea. I found that Toyota just simply tightens them too much.

    Possibly, but I've done my last two oil changes myself and still feels like the plastic hoising is a really snug fit. Almost like the oring thickness is a tad too thick, or the durometer of the oring is too firm.
