So this got me thinking and sure enough it looks like I did install the perches upside down. The good news is that the ride is nice and after measuring I gained about 1/2" of lift over the 3" REvtek lift. Bad news is I don't feel like redoing this. The spring seems to be seated on the perch securely and my guess is that it's similiar to if I would have set it the .85" setting. So I'm gonna keep an eye on it for a week or so. Also, now my truck is higher in the front and I gotta do something about it if I decide to leave my struts the way they are.

With the spring seat upside down, there is a chance they can break. have seen it happen. You need to get them fixed.

Yes I thought the same thing but when you put them in the correct way the collar/perch slips down over the snapring and captures it so it cannot work it's way out.

It may never cone out like it is but there is a lot of force on it and if it ever does it will release the spring and you will be S.O.L. and up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

Yeah it is a lot of work to swap it, but you can put it on the .85 setting and be sure it is safe. Hope you can get the time to do it.

Right I don't wanna take the chance. Funny thing is the day after install when parked on level ground I noticed it raked in the front. I measured and found that it's 7/8" higher up on the driver side and 5/8" higher on the passenger side than the rear. So it's almost as if it's on the .85" setting.

It doesn't appear that it would work it's way out but I don't want anything to break as Chris mentioned. And I don't plan on investing in paddles! So looks like I'm back to the drawing board this weekend.

If it makes you feel any better I will be removing mine and raising them up to .85.
I found some 1 1/2" AAls so that should level it out.

Best of luck but at least you know what has to be done and the second time is usually a lot easier.

Looks great! Just posted a comment on your thread. Yea still usure if I want to go with the spacer or .85" setting. I wonder what would be the safest bet?
Thanks alot. No worries here. Luckily I like wrenching and I also have a good idea of how it will feel if I do decide to set them to .85". Definately liveable, a world of difference from the REvtek lift.

I just reinstalled these correctly, set the perch at 0" and used my old 1/2" top plate spacers. After removing and reassembling it was pretty clear that my springs were preloaded alot. This explained the bouncy, jarring feeling I was getting going over bumps and stuff. So now the ride is exactly what I hoped for which is a nice a smooth happy medium ready for my daily commute. Ride height is right back where it was with the old Revtek setup which was about 3" of lift. So what this tells me is that the newer 885 x's are a 2.5" lift spring and must be used in conjunction with a top plate spacer to acheive 3" of lift. Hope my mistakes help someone down the road.

Glad you had the time to swap them around.
If the little snap ring decided to jump ship it would be a crappy day.
Looks like I may get started on mine tomorrow.
