    Fucking thieves!!!!

so I went up to get the trailer moved so the tow truck could get to it. Axle is tweaked, but was movable slow and short distances. It sat all week, while I worked with insurance, got here Friday, trailer hadn’t been touched.
This morning we pack everything up. I had to leave the hitch cargo rack at the camp site while I moved the trailer. I come back 30 mins later to get it..... fucking gone!
It was about 300 ft off the forest road behind some trees. Two septer water cans, two fuel cans, and a propane tank.

I would have left my wife to guard it, but a) forgot people were such shits! B) she hurt her back this morning and could barely move.

I guess the plus is the trailer wasn’t messed with. It was only a couple of hundred on the cargo hitch basket. Easier to deal with and replace than the travel trailer.

tow truck is here now and get it loaded up. Just sucks.

    Fucktards! That's horrible man.

One time when the wife and I were in Washington state we left a small step ladder at a camp site to save it to drive 5 minutes back to the gate to put in the self reservation fee in the little envelope - came back and our fucking ladder was gone to get into the camper. People suck.

oof, trying to plod through the garage chaos and only made more. :frusty:

I have a big convex mirror that's been waiting to be hung up and I go out and unpack it. Glue holding the weatherstrip around the edges has perished and the swivel ball mount is seized harder than hell. So the mirror is all loose and the mount is jammed in one position.
Trying to decide if I bother with drilling out the rivets and replacing the swivel mount, and finding some silicone to re-do the weatherstrip, or just shitcan it.

Legit ones from grainger and whatnot are a couple hundred bucks, but small china brand ones are like $20-$40 on the 'zon.

    Hahaha

The biggest pain is going to be finding a matching swivel ball mount with 3 mounting screws and getting the right one, and only one.

Drilling out the rivets will be easy and I can just replace them with some lock nuts or something, but the ball joint itself is what is wrong with it.

The mirror itself is in great shape.

Just washed the truck at work. Its been a few weeks since we've had any rain, and the truck was due. Went out after and took a pic next to the yard mules.20191020_165514.jpg

You speak wisdom, my friend. That would probably be way easier. Drill the rivets out, shitcan the ball joint, then make some kind of homegrown mounting base. I'd have to fabricate the base and *then* re-silicone the trim ring around the mirror itself to mate the base plate and convex mirror together, but I could probably put something like picture hangar notches in there so you wouldn't have to pry it apart if you ever had to move it.
