DBA is big in the Land Cruiser scene, as many of the LC/LX mods come from Australia. Haven’t heard of Tacoma guys running them though.

Even though I’m not using STOPTECH rotors, I’m really impressed with the TRD pads after the break in period. Looking forward to upgrading to Stainless Steel Brake lines in the future.

I finally got my rear stainless steel lines finished. Did the front lines quite a while ago. It Does provide a more solid pedal feel

Ok. This is the direction I’m going for my next front brake redo.

Thanks @crashnburn80 and @EatSleepTacos for bringing me to this thread.

Note EBC greensruff is an organic pad with the smallest and lowest operating temperature range. They are good on light weight cars for street use, but not ideal on heavier trucks, especially once you add large tires and armor. The trucks will be able to generate more brake heat than the pads are ideally suited for. Ceramic or semi-metallic pads will generally offer much better performance for our trucks.

@crashnburn80 after ~10 months with this setuo, how do you like them? Anything worth noting in terms of performance or durability?

    Another Crashnburn? :hattip:

They are a nice performance upgrade from stock while maintaining stock like characteristics of quiet smooth braking. I don't think I notice the brake dust as much as my Rock Warrior wheels are gun metal grey. With my over driven supercharger and mildly oversized tires, I think I may try a semi-metalic pad next to get a little more initial bite. I also spend time in cold weather which ceramics don't do great in when cold, they need some initial braking to heat up. The TRD pads only offer pros over stock, except some brake dust. Going to semi-metalic will introduce more noise, vibration, and heavier dust while being harder on the rotor. Still undecided.

Copy that, thank you sir. I'm not concerned about brake dust, my truck is very rarely clean and I'm more interested in the performance aspect. It's time for new pads/rotors and wanted to see if you still liked the performance after you've driven them for so long. I'm not running a supercharger (yet) but I've put a crap ton of weight on there and want to make sure I can still stop when I need to.

A quality semi-metallic pad is going to have wider operating temperature, able to stop better both in very cold and very hot pad temps compared to ceramic and have stronger initial bite. It will probably cause braking noise and vibration. It will definitely cause heavier dust, it will be harder on the rotor and have shorter pad life. Trade offs. The cryo StopTech rotors in theory would have better wear characteristics than a standard rotor against a semi-metalic pad.

Most my builds are about keeping OEM performance characteristics with high quality parts and minimizing any negative drawbacks that are often tradeoffs to improved performance, which is why I used the TRD Performance ceramic pads.

I like mine and they’ve helped me avoid at least one accident recently. I ran them on my BMW and soon, a set will go on my wife’s 2013 Durango.

The benefit is in water shedding, otherwise street benefit is typically negligible. There is a minor edge, but there is also removed friction area so it is about a wash. I haven't done scientific testing on the matter.
