How I fixed my dash clock

for years it acted up going dark intermittently, got progressively worse until it just went dark all the time, I noticed if I tapped on it with something hard or push on it just right it would come on momentarily Then one day I tried this:

it worked steady for a week, so after a week of it working, I cut out two pieces of old credit card about 3.8" wide the length of each side left and right, folded them lengthwise , painted them black with a sharpie felt pen and stuffed them in place between the bezel and clock face It has been working steady for three weeks like this.

 

Interesting, I'm guessing you pulled it out and checked to see if the plug was still tight on the backside?

Of course, tried it several times, tried cleaning the plug contacts, thats not it. Has something to do with the contacts at the buttons on the face. You can also send it to some guy on e-bay who knows how to fix them for about $20

it does now, the picture was taken before i trimmed the cards, you can barely see them now

 

Wish I had a clock or which the stereo had oem clock

So tiring picking up phone to look at time

 

I had the same problem.

I just removed the circuit board from a working t100 clock at the scrap yard and swapped it.

I think you can fix it by soldering the pins to the board but i dont have the proper tools to do that.

 

Post your blank bezel for trade in the marketplace. There are guys out there that hate the clocks and want the space for switches. I paid shipping both ways and got my clock for $14.

 

I'll have a Orange OEM clock & the bezel thst goes with it for sale as soon as I do the blank bezel swap. I have an illumination ring I'm going to put around the ignition ring that I got out of a T4R that I test fit and it will work. I did the complete interior led swap w/ blue LEDs and the only thing left is the Orange clock. I have a blue led to put in the illumination ring to match the rest of my blue LEDs also. I just need to do it!

I fixed mine with identical symptoms by re-soldering the contacts on the back of the clock. They look ok but develop hairline cracks over time. Very common problem with the oem clocks. I think you tube had some videos on what they look like.

 

Adjust your "Home Screen" to have the clock .... (using the Entire settings)..

Yes, you should be prewired. Very simple install.

I did this too.
Here is the clock with a crack in the resistor solder. Then I resoldered all 3 of them and it works.
