My truck is 2 1/2 years old. Battery just took a dump. Thoughts? The dealer is telling me they replace a lot of batteries in all vehicles. I am in Florida. The charging system works fine.

Not to jinx myself, but my 2016 that I bought in March 2016 is still going on the original battery...

Ah fellow FL here, normally about 3 years, I always swap mine at the 3 year mark even if it tests good.

It's been pretty common, to last only that long in Tacoma and the Tundra.

I think it's more an issue of age and environment than mileage. Here in Phoenix, with our hot summers, I've never had an automobile battery last longer than about 2.5 years. I just replace them out of habit every 2 years. Far better than getting stuck somewhere, 'cause when they go, they go.

I replaced mine after about a year. Lots of people have reported failures and I’m not gonna risk it in remote areas

My April 2016's still good at 50k miles, but I doubt it'll survive the upcoming winter.

My Late May 2016 is still on its OEM battery. Works great, and I'd expect at least 5 years up here in VT, if not more. My Wife's March 2014 4Runner is on its OEM as well still, and going strong.

Thx all. I skipped another POS Toyota battery and bought a good one. And FWIW the lithium ion battery jump pack I carry worked PERCECTLY!

Those little jump starters are awesome, I keep one in my truck too. What kind of replacement battery did you end up putting in your truck?

Mine went out after less than 2 years. The OEM batteries are junk. Replaced it under warranty and just recently upgraded to 31M Northstar battery.

I saw this posted somewhere else, but the stock batteries are not junk, your failures almost match up with this map.

The battery in my wife's 2015 Rav4 crapped out at around 2 1/2 years and 34,700 miles. Just before the warranty was up, luckily. Central Florida here.

Oddly, the batteries in my BMWs seem to last forever. I've had several last more than 10 years.

It depends on the climate of where the vehicle is operated. Here in the desert I've had wet cell batteries last little more than 1 year before failing...

    Sounds about right.
My batteries always last 6-7 years and I replace them with the cheapest on the shelf. All it does is start the thing. Heat kills it, cold works it out. Put a charger on it occasionally in the winter.
