Can anyone confirm p#0433126212 is on "national backorder"? Thats what the dealer told me but its on lagrange site like its in stock.
Also they want me to get part number 0029501281.

So obviously I have a bad tranny leak, they said they have to split it and replace gaskets which is fine, but what i'm wondering is a fair price for this job(was quoted 1400+), as well as other parts which would be advisable to change whilst they have it open...I've already opted to replace the plastic bushing under the shifter but any other parts I should have them replace?

Also, the original noticing of the leak was friday, and I had them fill it back up even though they didnt fix the leak(they cleaned up the leak with cleaner to help isolate leaking points ). Monday I drove 9 hours. How probable is it that I damaged any transmission components when doing so? Its still spinning like a top...but here just recently I've noticed a humming/whining accompanied by a vibration in the stick shifter when downshifting usually into 2nd but i've heard it in multiple gears with clutch pedal pushed in. I hear it more it seems in colder weather and I dont hear it as often when truck is warmed up for a while.

    Thanks for any sound advice.

Is it leaking from the pan?

If so, FIPG is used not a gasket.

unsure. I would imagine the main gasket is the culprit as they said they have to split it open. I believe he said replace all gaskets...pretty sure he said that, and honestly I want new gaskets all around if they come in the kit. almost 20 year old now, 205k so far btw, and I plan on adding another 300k+ if possible! this truck had frame replacement two years ago..04 3.4l 4x4 ex cab, OME suspension lift, ARB bumper and warn winch I did myself but this tranny job will be a dealer job.

Sounds like the main seal, if it's engine oil that's leaking anyway. No idea about the national back order but surely there are other options besides OEM? Quick Google search looks like Fel Pro makes one

Maybe @Jeff Lange can answer that, and maybe see if any dealers show one in stock.

Split it open? $1400. Doesn’t sound like a pan gasket. What’s the price of replacing the trans with a remanufactured.

Good question, as i'm sure to have more trans work down the road if I just fix the issue at hand. I'll get a quote tomorrow for shigiggles. however I havent had any issues with this tranny until this leak and the unknown humm/vibration mentioned above. I've heard these transmissions are tough but I dunno if its 500k tough.

His truck is a manual, so it doesn't have a pan.

The gasket set isn't so much a gasket set as it is a couple of seals and washers. There are alternatives including just buying the parts separately.

04331-60370 will have what you need and is also cheaper. You will also definitely need the 00295-01281 sealant to actually seal the case.

If you can't get 04331-26212 or 04331-60370, buy these parts instead:

    90311-32012 - Seal, Oil (Input) (Alternate: 90311-32022)
    90311-40007 - Seal, Oil (Output) (Alternate: 90311-40048)
    90430-18008 - Gasket, Plug (Qty: 2) (Alternate: 90430-A0003)
    96711-24030 - O-Ring, Speedometer Gear Sleeve

I would also think about doing the rear main seal and the t-case input seal, and check the clutch/flywheel as well.

Thank you for the insights fellas. Talked to a buddy back home that said since it’s a manual the leak isn’t pressurized, so I’m going to keep topping it off and limp it home where I have more diy options. The tech said that it’s leaking all around (multiple points) the transfer case/transmission seal.

If it’s leaking between the t-case and the trans, you typically remove the t-case and replace those two seals. Don’t need to open up the trans case. Hard to say without seeing it.

Also is there an oil pump in this transmission? I need to confirm that its not a pressurized leak, would give me some peace of mind.

90311-40021 is the correct seal for the transfer case input. The other seal they were looking at was the transmission output seal (the rear half/extension housing of the transmission case is also called the transfer adapter, and so the transmission output seal is actually listed and shown in the transfer case diagram).

There is no oil pump in the R150F transmission or VF2A transfer case, they are non-pressurized splash lubricated gearboxes.

Its the color of engine oil it seems, not red. ill try to snap some picture guys. the parts are ordered.
Engine oil is sound. never had a leak and doesnt burn engine oil. I may have mispoke I apologize, and also i'm learning on my truck as problems like these arise so bear with me. the leak is somewhere in the transmission, transfer case, clutch housing area. the farther I go toward the engine bay the less leakage I see. Crossmember is soaked with drops ready to fall. I'm going to attempt to drain and refill trans fluid to see how much is still in there so I know approximately how often I need to top it off until I can address the issue further. THANKS guys love yall. keep coming with the smarts. i'm offline for a bit to go to autozone get some go juice fer mah gears. suggestions on possibly running a bead of some sort of sealant around potential leak points to arrest the leak until it can be proper fixed.

I cracked the filler plug on transmission and oil came out immediately. So that’s full, albeit nasty and in need of changing badly. I have the stuff to do it but I’m working up the nerve and gall to do it in a hotel parking lot.
I cracked the t-case filler plug no oil stream came out but oil was present on the bolt threads.

See, I thought that, so I quickly looked it up and must have opened the wrong vehicle. I was very surprised not to see one. You are of course absolutely correct, there is an oil pump in the VF2 transfer case.

That said in regards to OP's concern, the seal and flange surface is not holding back pressurized oil. The pump is mounted near the front of the case, picks up oil from the bottom and sprays it towards the transfer gears and chain.

From the oil levels, it sounds like it's probably the transfer case leaking through the input seal. All things considered that's probably a pretty good scenario.
