Anyone have suggestions for a low profile water storage container that would fit beneath the sleeping platform in my truck bed? I have about 9 inches of height to work with.

I’d prefer a removable water container but a permanently-mounted water tank could work too. Looks like most containers are tall and narrow (like a jerry can), so they could fit underneath the platform sideways but reviews indicate that most containers leak when placed on their sides. Would be nice to find a low profile container with the filling cap mounted horizontally.

All your posts are bashing waterport. Did it break when freezing or did it break off and the "whole thing busted"?

Personally, I think you're full of shit.....

I'm surprised by the WaterPort hate. I've had one for several years and never had a problem. I'm looking for a water heating option so my girlfriend won't cry before bed.

Guy might be full of it, but he's not the only one thats bought a waterport only for it to leak/not hold air pressure. It was solid for a few months at least.

OP, you didn't indicate whether or not you were looking at pressurizing the water or not. I wouldn't suggest a waterport if you're only looking for storage. Another vote here for camper/rv tanks, purpose built for just that.

I recently mounted an Ironman 4x4 15gal tank in my bed. I’ll have to go measure later, but it’s about level height with the wheel well cutouts in the bed (whatever height that is, 9.5” I believe?) Really happy with the tank and pump setup.

I guess they have a variety of sizes and shapes they offer: https://ironman4x4america.com/water-tanks/

I picked my tank and pump up from a local member who hadn’t opened them yet, not directly from IM. Didn’t even think of having water storage back there till I saw the post. But after using the setup I will recommend it. Its good stuff.

    Oh man…
I use my jetboil to heat up water for my WP day tank! Usually takes about 4 fill ups of the jetboil to make it comfortable for me. I’m definitely the girl in our relationship when it comes to water temperature…

Winter, or really anything below 60 and I’m a little b@#ch

Summer time, the sun heats up the weekender on top of the cab great.

The only problems I’ve had with the water ports have completely been my fault. Drank too much and forgot to take the line and sprayer off. The sprayers don’t hold up too well to freezing, go figure

Hmm....I seem to have this vague recollection of worrying about things freezing in the bed of my truck, and a bunch of white stuff I had to pay for someone to take off my property....... :)

Well then, I guess it's understandable with all the magic why Vermont charges a premium to live there LOL.

I don't mean to VT bash, I really don't. My 10 years there was an experience, but that was my limit :)

I don’t either, I really do love it here. I’ve been here for about 22 years, all my people are here now. It really is rough half the year though. Vacation is only a couple days drive and I love road trips. They can always be turned in to camping trips!

The young miss and I have been talking this over. I'm going to try the jet boil idea for sure. Currently I have the mounting plate for my WaterPort on the passenger side bedrail. So when I open the tent (mounted over the bed of the truck) it's almost impossible to get to the WP to add water and pump it up. I'm going to move it to the driver's side and see how it goes. Where do you have your WP mounted?
