What’s the second best enameled Dutch oven? I know Le Creuset is the best, but I can’t justify $300 for a Dutch oven.

I use my lodge skillet to do roasted chicken with root veg a lot. Usually it’s a whole chicken but most recently it was a tray of thighs.

Lodge. I have 3 Lodge enameled Dutch ovens, used them for years, beat them to death and they still perform good as new. 1/3 the cost of that fancy French swag.

Fair enough. At less than $50 for a 6 qt DU, it’s hard to go wrong. Will be here Sat from Amazon. Think I’ll deep fry some catfish or spoonbill this weekend to test it out. Need to use up some fish from last year.

I have one big one for deep fry, two smaller ones for stews and such. All 3 of them are indespensable to me.

No good pics of the Dutch oven but here it is coming out. A garlic bread "damper" to go along with the Italian themed smorgasbord. @2Toyotas here's a thread you might like.

Lodge are quite nice and inexpensive which is a bonus. I have a dutch oven as well as a skillet from lodge which I like. Mainly use them for camping. Recently picked up a primo condition Wagner skillet for $70 bucks! Was pretty stoked on that since I've seen them go for north of $175 but if you're patient and search around you can probably find a Wagner or Griswold for less. The greatest advantage to the vintage ones are the weight reduction. I didn't realize what I was missing until I got one! also they are smother and don't have that speckled texture which is nice as well. There's a couple Kickstarter brands out that I haven't tried but am curious about.

Also picked up one of these handle covers up which im liking after a bit of a break in period.

I have one of those exact models, same color and size. It’ll be your new best friend when cooking inside. Maybe outside too.

Sweeet. I love cooking in my cast iron. Everything from yeast rolls:

    and Sourdough:

    To parsnips on the grill:

    Roast chicken:

and chicken pot pie from the leftovers!

And those are just pictures that I happen to have on my phone, haha! Basically, if it involves baking, roasting, broiling, grilling, or frying the cast iron pans or dutch ovens get called in to do the job.
