    Good idea!

Thanks, I love the simple and easy stuff! :)

No drilling needed on my 06, the bolt I used was the perfect size. Maybe the holes on the 09 are smaller? Not sure. The stainless steel hardware I used was left over from a set of hurricane shutters so I am not of the exact size of it, but it was a perfect fit, sturdy too!

Neubs, I want to thank you for writing this up. I did this mod last month and it gave me serious piece of mind.

I used some rustoleum "hammered" black rattle can on my bolt and washer to make it blend in to the bed mat. Same paint I used on my rock sliders.

I can't really answer the question because mine came with the truck. But if I were you, I'd just call my favorite neighborhood dealership and ask them. They'll look it up for you with quickness, ask for parts dept.

Great write up. Just did this myself; 1/4" bolt fit perfectly. I think I might get some extra rubber washers though to put underneath the mat but above the composite bed. Without any space there, a depression is made, and the rubber mat doesn't look completley flat. But this is just me be anal about it. Also, I can't decide whether to paint the bolt and washer black, or to leave it as is. I think leaving it shiny makes it stand out more and might prevent a thief from even trying to pull it out in the first place. Thanks to the OP.

Thanks for the info about the bed mat. I'm interested in how you have mounted your hi-lift jack on the side of the bed wall and how that has worked for you. Your thoughts are appreciated.

    Thanks Flyguy

I used a Hi-Lift 4X-RAC. Overall I was very happy with it because it is very solid! Here is a link to some more pictures of my old set-up: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/buy-sell-trade/72160-fs-hi-lift-jack-mount-pics.html

Since selling my 4X-RAC I have basically copied Snoboarder's Rig set up found on post 4 here: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/37641-snoboarders-rig.html The new mount is not as solid due to some weakness in the rails but it does help to move the weight to a more central location. Hope this helps!

Great idea and thanks for sharing! I have an OEM mat coming in early this week and I won't hesitate to bolt her on down. Between this mod, the tailgate clamp mod, and my new mattress I will be sleeping better than ever :D

I just bought the mat and want to do this. It looks like you used bolt and wingnut from hurrican shutter slide track.

How did you mark the mat to drill the hole. From underneath with a marker or measurements from the top of the bed mat?

Does water still drain from out of the bed with the mat installed? my drive way is on a slant and always back in and only way water can drain is through those holes in the bed.

I was wondering about the draining situation myself. I was considering just cutting away the front 3" of the bed mat to leave the drain holes open.

I used the bed upper and middle bolts with new bed anchors to hold the mat down. Drilled bolt size hole thru the mat, slide bolt with new anchor on it thru the mat and tightened t down. Mat not going anywhere and bed still secure as before.

Does anyone know if you can use the bed bolts to go on top of the mat and still get enough bite to keep the bed secure? I guess I could do the D-ring mod too while I am at it, huh?
