Remote starters? Fortin units?

What remote starters are you guys using? Anyone run the Fortin evo-all or one for the remote start? For $150 cndn it's hard to pass up plus no sacrificing a key and you just hit lock 3 times to start.

 

That's cool that you don't need extra remote! How much for installation?
I use Clifford on my 4Runner for about 5years no problems so far, but you have to have extra remote. I also had viper on my 16 taco it was good too. But I paid for those around $500+ installed.

 

Looked up the Fortin, and of course, no reps in Las Vegas. sigh...

 

It's supposed to almost completely plug and play. I think they are a Canadian company.... maybe... I hope someone on here has used them, it would be nice to get a review.

And after skimming through all of them only Phoenixfire1965 has installed a fortin unit (atleast it sounds that way)

 

That was not intended to be a comprehensive list of threads, just a few to get you "started"...

I haven't installed one at this point. Likely I would end up choosing a Fortin unit, mostly I have other higher priority stuff going on right now. I'd also like to see if they get further along on their compatibility with Drone Mobile as that may be a potential add on in the future I might consider.

 

I have a Fortin Evo-All from mpcauto.com pre-programmed. I didn't see it on their site for the 2016-2017 Tacoma so I called and they were helpful. I plan on installing it sometime this week, once I do I'll put up a thread with pics and instructions. It was $110 from them, but afterwards I realized I could have got it and the programmer for a little cheaper on Amazon, probably worth it if you are thinking about doing it on more than 1 car.

 

Getting one installed this Friday, $300. Not sure the brand but it integrates with my oem key fob.

 

I believe many/most of them can use the OEM fob at this point, though many will be advertised with the longer range two-way remotes as well.
