I've seen one fold back on an Xterra in a low speed accident... They are damage multipliers

They are called "brushguards" for a reason.

I've bumped quite a few things with a fare amount of force with mine ( bent a heavy gauge corner post on a chain link fence, broke a mailbox post, bump barricades in front of stores) and it still looks the same. Then again I've never hit stuff with the headlight hoops , it's always been in the middle on the winch frame.

there are 6 bolts attaching the brush hoop to the winch frame, It feels really solid on the top middle. I don't think it will be as bad as a normal brush guard if I hit a deer with that part.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.

Great. I've been thinking about adding one. I don't wheel with this truck. It's just my road and yard work truck. Probably hang some lights on it. Really folks, they are called brush guards, not tree, or other vehicle guards. If you're preparing for a Mad Max event, a Taco shouldn't be your first choice. Or at least get a real bumper.

I've worked in bodyshops for 21 years . Regardless of what you call them they do help total a truck . Ranch hands are a little different due to stronger mount points but still rely on the sturdiness of a oem bumper . If you hit anything hard with it it can do more damage than the cosmetic parts some have listed . The core support ,radiator and condenser are also at risk. And they give less approach angle if you go offroad .

No body thinks about a wreck though and that great condition gen 1 tacoma could easily be totaled . When a vehicle gets a little age even cosmetic stuff at a reputable shop could total it if fixed right .

Ouch. The 4runners face is even squished together is if in agony and as if to portray its final thought .

How could I be so stupid.

It's like running around with a knife pointing towards your stomach to look hard .

Get and ARB or equivalent and there will be an end to these conversations.
Mine has saved me thousands of dollars several times over... in fact I still feel sorry for the poor soul who pulled in front of me. Of course no damage to my vehicle but thousands to his.
