Wildpeaks or Grabber ATX

Looking for the best tire for my DD. I want something that has a good tread life and will do good offroad and in the snow.

I would recommend adding Hankook Dynapro ATMs to the list also. When I swapped them out for Wildpeaks I had 50k miles on them and they still had a lot of life left in them. And they were fantastic in the rain, snow, and off road.

I have Wildpeaks on my truck now and I've been very happy with them so far as well.

 

At2 have worked well on my first gen

 

I love my Wildpeaks, but can't really compare them to anything but the all-seasons my truck originally came with.

I just had the same decision to make. My tire guy said the general wears longer but the falken has better grip throughout its life.
I went with the falken as I’m not running separate tires and rims for winter.
The falken balance very well. I’m very happy with them. Not e rated tire for me

 

There are a lot of good tires and most of them do what you want to do. Make your decision based on price and what you think looks best.

Right now the Falkens are the darlings of the internet. I replaced the tires on my F150 in November and seriously considered them. I've used Cooper in the past with very good results. ther t Ohan being expensive you rarely hear any complaints with BGF KO2's. They seem to be the tire everything else is judged against. Michelin is the go-to tire for those wanting a good ride and long life if they don't need an aggressive off road tire. Pricy, but they last so long that they probably come out cheaper in the long run.

Cooper has changed their marketing approach and prices are up. I ruled them out in November because of price. They used to only sell to small independent shops and ran $50-$75 rebates 3-4 times each year. The low prices combined with a rebate got the prices so low it was hard to justify anything else. They will no longer sell to independent shops, only the bigger chains who charge more and I haven't seen a rebate offered in a while.

They are the same tire as the Falken, made in the same factory with a different name stamped on them. My dealer could have gotten them about $150 cheaper than Falkens for me. This is the tire I had decided to buy for my Ford, but the guy I've been buying tires from for 30+ years closed his shop and decided to retire before I got around to buying them.

They ended up being cheaper than Cooper or Falken and only a bit more than Sumitomo. Over $300 less than BFG. They are a lot more aggressive than the photo shows. I've put about 2000 miles on mine so far and am happy.

 

no experience with the Grabbers but FWIW i went from Duratracs to Wildpeaks a couple weeks ago and after a long trip i can say i am blown away by how much quieter and smoother the Wildpeaks are. i figured there would be an improvement and in all fairness the Duratracs were worn but the difference is almost unbelievable.

if the Cooper AT3s were available in the size i wanted i would have gone with them but so far so good on the Wildpeaks which were great on a 2.5 week trip that saw rain, snow, sand, coarse gravel and loose rock.

 

Wildpeaks. First set did 70k in 2 years. Lots of gravel roads, PNW rain and snow.

 

I had two sets of Grabber AT2 when i had my 2013 taco. I liked them, never really had any issue.

With my new 2020 Taco, I went with the Wildpeaks and I can say that the Wildpeaks ride smoother/quieter

 

From what I can see both tires get good ratings and they're pretty equal in performance. It just comes down to which you prefer.
