Oof, I got shingles about the same age. I remember basically falling out of the shower crying from the pain because I let water hit it.

Man I wish the 4runner came in that blue, it's such a nice color.

Sometime in the next few months I'll be buying a Dashtop multi mount, running a charge cable for my phone behind the dash, as well as adding in a volt meter in replacement of the cig lighter. Family is mid move so we have sent basically all tools out to Alabama with my dad so he can work on some projects while its just him out there and hes got free time. I'm not too good with wiring and would prefer to not mess up anything on the truck. Anyone willing to spend a couple hours doing it with me? I'll give you 20 bucks for a case of beer lol. As far as I can tell the dashtop multi mount is super easy, and the wiring for voltmeter isn't too difficult for anyone with minimal wiring experience. I do need to look into where the power for the extra charge cable will come from though, that's the only part that's an unknown. I know its possible though, seen it done a ton.

So I finally got the go ahead from my parents (mostly my Mom since its hers) to upgrade her 2018 Limited 4Runner. It has the XREAS system, and since its for them, I'm really wanting to keep it simple and to keep that system intact. I've been looking at the Revtek kit specifically made for the XREAS system.. and I think it would be a great solution.

My concern/question is... I have seen some stuff regarding the XREAS system and that it could fail/start to fail with higher mileage (100k+). How true is this.. and if so.. maybe I should just get ahead of it and replace the entire XREAS system. Again, I would prefer not to if its a reliable system.. but if its bound to fail.. then obviously I will replace it before it becomes an issue.

@Aw9d does/did Tiff's Runner have XREAS? I cant remember.. Anybody else with 4Runner knowledge please feel free to chime in.

Man, anyone know someone local who really knows what they are doing with off road light wiring? Got my switch pro wired from a forum member. Going to run the control in sunglass holder. Making template for that seems easy enough.
I have no idea where to start with wiring. Have basically 3 pod pairs and a light bar currently to install once my bumper goes on

can’t even figure out the correct wiring products to buy to run from the light connectors back to the switch pro

I know sdhq but I’m sure they charge a fortune

I'd do both these electrical wiring projects but you don't actually want me anywhere near them because it will turn into a perfectionist OCD meltdown...

I haven't any direct experience with XREAS myself but I have been doing a crapload of research and reading about T4Rs of late and it seems like what happens is they've basically got the same lifetime as regular shocks, but they suffer from being exposed to a lack of maintenance and it becomes a failure cascade. As in, you let one fitting leak or one shock blow, and suddenly you're looking at a big bill to replace every part of that entire diagonal crosslink because you let the shocks and secondary reservoirs run dry/ suck in water/ air.

It's like getting mad that you had to rebuild a shock that you let leak for thousands of miles, only it's 2 shocks, hard lines, accumulator thingies, and flexible lines. Also lots of places have no idea how to service them and those that do will charge an arm and a leg because they know they can.

The hard lines should never really give you any trouble but the last little bit to the shock itself is just like a brake line with a banjo fitting.

I read all the same stuff. Just wanted to see if anyone has actually had experience with it failing if ever. They obviously arent going to stress the system. it hardly gets driven, garage kept, etc.

If I can convince them to just let me rip it all out and go Coilovers I will just do that. but if they want to stick to a budget.. I want to make sure it wont cause bigger issues later.

Tiffs 4runner had it. She's over 100,000 miles and no issues.

    I thought so.

I'll most likely just try and convince them to let me rip it out.
