Goodyear Brake Pads and Rotors?

I have a 2018 4x4 SR. I am at 48,000 miles and I'm getting a little bit of a pulsation along with a pulsating squeak when braking at low speed. I figure I will replace the pads and rotors in the near future whenever I find the time.

I have poked around on the Internet and found the Goodyear brand pads and rotors seem to be at a really good price. Does anyone have experience with Goodyear brakes pads and rotors?

They're just rebranding someone else's parts. They might be good, but I'd stick with Denso (OEM) or Brembo.

Using a torque wrench on the lugs might help with that pulsing if it hasn't taken a set from the induced warp.

 

You can get Brembo rotors and Akebono pads on Rockauto for them same price as that mystery set...so no.

I crammed my cellphone into a wheel spoke and got this photo of a 48000 mile brake pad.

 

There's ton of life on that pad.

If you pull the wheel, you can look straight into the calipers and see the pad material remaining.


It would be a good time to check the lug nut torque also.

 

Standard rule of thumb I use for determining brake pad life is when the pad thickness of the backing plate which the pad is mounted to, I replace them.

I agree, that pad looks like it has some life left in it, although if you're going to replace the Rotors, do the pads at the same time.

 

Don't just check the outer pad, you need to check the inner pad also, Disc's can wear at a very different rate if the caliper on the piston side sticks even a little bit.

 

I use Wagner BD126090 rotors and Thermo Quiet pads. They'll last until you sell it.
