Grinding in 3rd after Transmission Fluid change

I need some help. I have 114k on my 2005 v6 6 speed 4x4 and I decided to use this forum to change my transmission fluid the other day. I was having no problems shifting and I thought it was about time to change the fluid. I drained the transmission and filled it with about 2 quarts (until it started to poor out the fill hole) of AMSoil

$30 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90 gear oil. And now I grind going into 3rd gear. Why would this all of a sudden start ? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Did you let the fluid drain while the vehicle was level and resting on the tires. Raising the truck will retain too little or too much fluid depending how it is raised up. Probably not this but just fyi.

 

Thanks for the input. I got it as level as I could. I parked it on the street which is flat in my neighborhood.

Try getting some stock fluid back in and see what happens?

I use MT-90, but all brands tend to do more then needed. Be sure to check the level again when cold. It is possible that you dislodged some material with the new fluid, but 100k on fluid isn't that bad. Sorry not much else you can do here.

 

i changed my clutch... had to drop my tranny, and i grind going into 3rd now too. its a 97 though, so different but still...

 

Well, always my idea if something went bad on my truck that i can not fix it. Dealer Shop or Trusted Mechanics.
