ok here it is.... what is the point of getting a pre-runner? looks like a 4wd gets stuck like any other 2wd I mean yeah I know you can put in a locker and lift and tires....but it wont ever be a 4wd...like i said just trying to see why you guys bought them...like what was the thing that drew you to them

Saw a guy on the road today with a dodge ram (which both my parents own) sitting up pretty good on like 36's get past him and look back its 2wd with like 9" of suspension lift and a body lift........

I got a PreRunner because I like the height of it and I knew that I wouldn't be using the 4x4 much, if it at all, anyway. Anyhow, I like being a poser...

I got a PreRunner because I don't need 4WD, but I wanted to see over the hood of the trucks that pull next to me at the light when I am turning right.

Hey TacoZilla, don't get mad, but why get a Toyota and put a Chevy engine in it? I'm not trying to start a fight, it just seems to defeat the purpose.

i got a prerunner because i love the ride height, but i didnt need(and really couldnt afford) a 4x4. plus with the prerunner.....gas mileage is better because it doesnt have the weight of the 4x4, yet i can still off road it pretty good...........its all about finesse:D!!

I have my stock taco and love it dearly but mud drags/bogs arent won with love they are won with displacment and inches...44" tires seemed to be a better choice then the 225/70/15's and 450 hp VS 160hp it had when I got it lol...oh yeah and BTW i did drive the truck once with the 350 and 33's and let me tell ya something that was a ride and a half

Cool, but only cause you still have your stock Taco. I really was just curious, I've heard of a lot of older Toyotas built up with "other" engines.
I don't mud to win, I mud for fun.
Did you do all that work yourself?

Well, I bought a Prerunner, simply because I DO NOT need the 4WD.. I would NEVER use it.. and..

My best friend has they same truck I have cept in the 4x4 sport and his truck is much heavier than mine and i get better gas milage than the does.. I can tell a big diff in the weight of his truck. My pick-up actually has a better get up and go..

Just having the 4x4 sticker on my truck didn't turn me on like it does most guys.. and besides my truck drives and rides better than most of friends/families cars..

I just didn't want it NOR did I need it!

yeah did all the work from a %100 mechanically stock tacoma (had like lift and tires ) to what the picture shows in 3 months... starting the project over as shown in my one pic with it on the trailer or beside my other taco... and yeah I actually just got my other taco awhile ago i had a 89 toyota 4x4 before that and then converted it to a diesel. also I mud for fun.... but its fun to beat your buddies at the same time you know...they had like ford, jeeps, dodges biggest one had a 1976 dodge 1 ton with 440,dana60,dana70 and 38's i pulled him backwards through a mud pit once

PreRunners are the Shizzznit! Love the height of the 4X4's and PreRunners, but I don't need nor want 4 wheel drive. You carry around alot of extra weight that I don't need. Not to mention, more things to wear out and replace over time.
