Rear bumper ideas?

So I spent the last 3 hours taking off my factory rear bumper and painting it black, It was an awful job and I'm not thrilled with the turn out. Are there any aftermarket options that aren't ridiculously expensive? I just need a metal box with a place to put my plate! Lol that shouldn't be 1000 bucks..

I had one of these. It was cheap. It did the job of replacing the factory bumper & adding recovery points.

It’s OK, but not what you want for sliding over rocks.

If rock crawling isn’t your Thing (it is my thing, so I ripped this off and installed a true plate bumper) this is the least expensive option you will find.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention, you get what you pay for when you want cheap. The bumper I listed is an Allpro knockoff and can't guarantee on how well it will work. This site has taught me pretty well with the saying of "cry once, buy once."

If you're looking for a stock looking bumper that is black you can prob find some on ebay for less than $200

 

I know you don't want to spend a thousand dollars on a bumper, but most of the bumpers you are going to see in the thread above are custom built for our trucks so its going to be hard to find a solid built bumper for less than $500 (unless you build your own).

I put the Armor Tech Offroad bumper on my truck after my truck was rear ended. It was all paid for by the insurance company so I had it Linex coated, I think total cost was around mid $900 ish, (that was with everything shipping included) and its a solid bumper with hitch receiver and recovery points. Its a direct bolt in that replaces your factory receiver and relocates your trailer plug to a more useful spot and wont get smashed easily.

It ships as unfinished steel so you will need to primer/paint/linex or powder coat it. A few coats of rattle can primer/paint will probably keep you in the $800+ range as far as cost goes.

It takes a lot of time to make a quality bumper that was custom designed to fit our trucks. It also takes equipment, manpower, and a ton of logistics to do it in a production setting.

If you just want a piece of rectangular tubing cut to length and bolted to your frame, then do just that. I bet there is a forum member nearby that can help you with the build. Otherwise, I’d be happy to make it for you with the frame mounts welded on. Won’t be $1000 but it will still be more than doing it yourself.
