I tried this for awhile, but moved it to the headliner after deciding I wanted to be able to see the idiot lights.

The idiot lights under the odo is what I am referring to. TPS light is one of them. Definitely your call on if you care or not, just passing on my opinion for others.

I opted to go with this install. Super tidy, convenient location (just to the right side of my sunshade). The tip on going to a dollar store was brilliant. 2.50 for two tape measure's and then just used hi quality double sided tape.

The cable is easy to run and the perfect length. Just take off the handle on the A-post (pop off the caps and two phillips screws), and pull the top of the trim towards the center of the truck (leave the bottom in where it is). Put a straightened coat hanger down where the other cables run. Tape the ethernet end to the coat hanger and pull it up. Then remove the sun shade (two phillips screws) and just run it up the A-post trim and then tuck it under the front of the ceiling trim along the windshield to where you mount. Super easy, clean, no drilling or permanent marks made. Perfect.

Big thanks to the original poster.

Another simple way to mount it up high to the headliner is to put some velcro on the scangauge (the hard side), and just stick it wherever and whatever angle works best for you

Does this really work? I have plenty of industrial velcro left over and if this works as a temp solution till my new truck shows up I'm game to try.

This did not work for me. I ended up attaching one belt clip in the middle, then used a piece of velcro on each end to stabilitze it.

    how did this work out?

i tried velcro and it has worked but the summer heat melted the adhesive a few time, just had to stick it back together and it worked out.

Old thread revival but is the SGII cable long enough that you don't have to buy an extension cable to mount it here? Thanks!

Yes, it is. I have the Blendmount which mounts the SG above the mirror and even though it came with an extension, I didn't need it. Recently I added a 2nd SG with an OBD2 splitter.

Time and time again TW saves me $$$ with great ideas like this but also costs me more because I now have a scangauge 2 on order. Good thing I already have some cheap tape measures laying around!!

I've been looking at this for a solution to mount my scan gauge. So here's my question for those of you that used the tape measure clip method. Did any of you have to open up the clips a little bit. I don't want to crush the curved lip of my head liner at the wind shield. Any help here is greatly appreciated. And a giant THANK YOU for the brilliant idea goes out to Detective Dan.
