I applied gorilla tape around that area. To cover the gap to prevent water intrusion when raining . I guess it also helped prevent that . Mines ok. It’s all dry inside after a rain

It happened to me because I didn't have the front flap secured with velcro or the buttons and it flapped on the hwy for a 5 hour drive. I installed the buttons on the front of the bed and it doesn't flap anymore. Just put some weather stripping on top of it like @tonered said or touchup paint if it bothers you. I wish someone 3d printed a cap there though...ahem @MESO ....

I did install the buttons on mine.

I also moved my rails forward more than the instructions said so the rear flap wouldn't slap the top of the tailgate. Maybe mine is good

ugh. That sucks. I keep a roll of 3M tape around for just that reason. Thanks for the heads up about that. I just checked mine and it was beginning to wear too. pm me and I'll send you a piece - no need to buy an entire roll for two 1/2" strips.

Try applying some Xpel or Laminex clear coating, like what is used for clear hood rock guards.

Link to roll, just in case I do want to purchase some? I found it useful in the past for bikes as well.
