im buying a leer 100 for my 2011 taco, and was wondering if with the leer being closed, does that go over the tailgate enough to make the tailgate secure, and not need a lock for it? i was guessing it probably doesnt, but i thought someone on here might know, and be able to tell me.

    thanks

You can still open the tailgate with enough force.

If you don't want to spend the money on a lock for the tailgate, then just go for a cheap Hose Clamp Mod on it.

If by the time a thief gets enough force on the tailgate, and gets it opened, he'll see the hose clamp is in the way, and hopefully give up.

Not sure about your Leer but my Snugtop XV prevents the opening of the tailgate.
