Im looking to replace my u-joints. hearing squeaking from the rear and vibrations under the cab area and sort of in the pedals. I am not a mechanic. I do research and do what i can or have my mechanic do fixes depending on costs.

I have not greased my u-joints.

    Any recommended part #?

    I found these MOOG super-strength part #285 https://www.autozone.com/drivetrain/u-joint
    If there's a better cost-comparable part, I wanna know.

    thanks.

Wrote up the process when I just did my u-joints (which were toast). The part number you want if you want to go OEM (I like OEM) is 04371-60070 and the cost isn't all that much ($50 at the time I wrote this).

You can also order matsuba u joints from low range off-road. That's the OEM supplier to Toyota.

This part description says works for up to the 95. but i have a 98. http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/u-joint-matsuba.html
is this going to make a difference or are the u joints the same for the 98?

I think they work on everything but the u joints on the CV. Give them a call to be sure before trusting that random dude on the net!!

so this part that the internet told me matched my vehicle did not. so now everyone else knows. the spicer 5-153X u joint does not fit to replace the rear driveshaft to diff u joint on a 1998 4wd 4cyl 2.7L standard cab tacoma.

Thanks OP. I did just install the OEM one I linked above, and it of course fits fine.

Always make sure the parts are the right fit. Definitely a good thing to keep in mind when replacing any one of them.

I went with the MOOG SuperStrengths. Feel much better than the old ones and look better too

You should be able to pull up Autozone or OReillys etc. online and see if the U Joint part numbers are different. Depending on location. Also you can look up how many years are covered by one part number.
