2.7l Dyno results

The local car guys had a dyno day, and since its not an AWD dyno, the STi was out , so I brought the Taco. It's stock aside from a K&N filter from the previous owner.








I can't complain.

Wow, torque looks unusable with that slow rising slope to 4500 r.pm. , don't think I've hit 4500 rpm yet.
If you look closly between the red/blue lines I can see the words "supercharge me".

 

Torque is the flatter set of lines, I had them start the second (red) pull lower, which shows ~130 lb/ft at 1400 RPM.
I rarely take it over 2500, kinda makes me wish they had the D-4D engine available here.

 

Gotcha, the h.p. is the sloping one.

 

Now I wanna dyno my 4.0L.

 

I'm curious of what mine would Dyno at, the 2nd filter is pulled, I'm running synthetics, and the fender thing is out going to the air box.

 

Cool....looks like about 167 hp at the flywheel. Not bad at all! How many miles on your truck?

Anyone got a link that will teach me how to read a Dyno chart?

that torque curve is pretty impressive for a stock motor. and it stays strong all the way up the power band. I've been pushing my motor with hard pulls into the upper power band and it has felt nice and strong. your graph shows me proof that our 2.7l motors make power at the higher rpms. thanks for the post.

that dip at 3500 is exactly what I felt with my stock intake before I started messing with it.

 

I am very impressed with your results I'm currently working on buying a 2010 Tacoma 4cly 4x4 and you just proved my point. The Tacoma with a 4cyl puts more power to the ground then my current truck, a Dakota 3.9 V6. I test drove a Tacoma a few days ago and remember thinking "this truck has more A$$ than my Dakota". However I didn't get to beat on it because I was with a salesman. My Dakota is supposed to put out 175 hp at the flywheel and 125 at the wheels which I think is an overstatement.

 

I've had both,and compared to my 98 v6 manual I think it's pretty compareable. Neither had a lot out of the hole but the Taco has much better top end!

 

It is also impressive to compare how much power is lost through the drive line. Dodge looses 50 ish HP Toyota 20 ish. Thats impressive to me.
