My current setup is afe cai stage2, nst pulley kit, nst ims, 76mm tb, tbs, magnaflow muffler stock exhaust, Urd equal length headers, urd competition y pipe with no cats

I wrote down the information and specs of of the muffler and resonators. As I was told the longer the muffler the less sound it’ll make and when I installed it the sound level was almost as stock but a little deeper which was what I wanted. When I installed the urd spec u headers and urd y pipe and the vibrant ultra quiet resonator I had a terrible rasp across the rpm. Now I just installed the vibrant bottle style resonator and it really helped a lot but there is still a very annoying rasp in the 3k rpm range.

I also read a post from superwerty a while back selling his custom exhaust. And stated “I experimented with different muffler combo's until I finally found something that sounded perfect and eliminated rasp completely.”

    His kit had 2 magnaflow mufflers. (1) 4x9x14 and (1) 5x11x22

I don’t now if I should delete the ultra quiet resonator and get another bottle style resonator or do what superwerty did which was getting those magnaflow mufflers.

This is what I am currently using in my catback exhaust

You posted that you have a 3.00" muffler with a 2.50" resonator. What size is your exhaust pipe? If the piping is 3.00" (unless you're boosted) a 3.00" exhaust pipe is probably overkill. The removal of the cats and the upgraded exhaust prior to the muffler, in my opinion, are the main contributors to the rasp that you're experiencing. These items can be a bit more personalized towards racing applications where drone, rasp, tone, volume, etc. are of no concern, but on a street application or DD can be unnerving. A resonator's main job is to defeat drone, a welcome side effect can be a slight reduction in tone and rasp. If you didn't want to reduce the current exhaust piping to 2.50" then I would recommend the more unconventional 2 muffler method.

My exhaust pipe size is 2.5”

Should I still go with the 2 muffler method?

I have a 2006 Tacoma 4.0 with an electric exhaust cut out in it. When it's closed no rasp at all going through 1 flowmeter muffler. Now when the cut out is open and I get on it it becomes very raspy so I believe it's because the resonators create rasp and the muffler kinda takes care of the rasp. I'd say cut out the resonators. I'm wanting to do it on my truck but haven't gotten around to doing it

So what combo you go with after the ypipe and no cats? I have two mufflers one straight through and a chambered. They do pretty well but still some rasp in a small rpm window @Blue2010
