So this mod did not work for me.. 06 tacoma solid green wire pulled out of harness and connected to pink wire. ac won't turn on. went back to stock config and still not working. 10amp fuse checked out good. Any insight on what else i could take a look at. (side note, the ac worked fine before attempting the mod).

Alright! At least one person understands the useful property of the AC to dehumidify!

Bed mat, step, and lights, huskie mud flaps, Polk components, Alpine amp, 3 layer sound proofing, B&I blackwood dash kit, fluid film, led cabin and footwell lights, tail letters, window tint, IGGEE seat covers. More to come.
Been thinking of trying this mod on my "16" ac, mostly because I did the AC drain hose mod and I am glad I did. When I stop the truck there is what I would call a "large puddle" that otherwise would be soaking the frame and the water can wind up freezing on the garage floor. Seeing large amounts of fluid under my vehicle always gets my attention. My preferred setting is defrost and floor. Wondering if anyone has done this on gen 3. Thanks.

So I “did” this today and ended up breaking the wire off instead of pulling it out . Now what ? How do I repair the connector ? What kinda connector is in the plastic piece that goes on the end of the wire ?

If I get it out can I repair the wire using the same connector ?

I mean it’s disconnected for sure now lol

Ok so reviving an old thread, hopefully. So either I missed it in 16 pages or it wasn’t discussed either way does this mod also stop the recirculating button from automatically shutting off when the the ambient outside temperature drops to 50% or below ? If not has anyone figured out a way to do that thanks for any help.

It will allow you to use recirc with defrost in aditition to not forcing the A/C to run in defrost mode if that's what your asking.

Thanks but no thats not what I was asking. On my truck, 2013 Tacoma, when the outside air drops below 50% the recirculating air button automatically shuts itself off. To keep it on you then need to press and hold it longer than 2 seconds to have it stay on. I am wanting to know if this mod eliminates the recirculating air button from doing that.

That's interesting, my 14 has never done that even before I did the mods to the A/C.:notsure:
I did the mods because I didn't like that it forced the A/C on in defrost and when the temp knob was turned all the way to the left.

Not sure about your manual but on page 247 of my owners manual it explained this. Not a huge deal but just curious if this mod disabled this feature.857D1040-A02C-41C2-9011-4884FE246A0F.jpg

Nope I just looked and mine has no such paragraph, they must have changed it in the 14 MY.

Hum, AC on or fog over widows? I like to see where I'm going. Wonder how many GM, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, Tacoma, Tundra, ETC truck owners are dealing with this? They all run the AC on defrost for good reason. AC units are excellent dehumidifiers that's why they drip water on the ground.

That's what I have an A/C button for, if I want it on I'll turn it on I don't need the truck to tell me when I can and can't have it on. Besides the heater heat's up alot faster when it's not fighting with the A/C.

Thats not what I’m asking or getting at here it was supposed to be a simple question regarding the function of what the recirculating air button will or won’t do after this specific mod, maybe for someone who has done the mod.

I have a 2013 and have done this mod, but I don't understand your question yet. If the outside air drops below 50% of what? Why does the cabin temp drop if it's on recirc?
