After having read the thread from start to this point, I can simply say that i am really freaking impressed with the level of detail and attention you have paid your potential customers. The pizza on the GC rim had me literally laughing out loud (btw that pizza looked bomb).

I'll be the first to admit I'm kind of a brand-whore, and have a few exterior mods from a different company already installed, and was looking to continue that name into the front and rear bumper. That is no longer the case. When the time comes, I will proudly mount an ApogeeOffroad to the rear end of my Tacoma. Not only have you managed to see to the needs of nearly every taco owner, but you guys seem to have heart. HELL YEAH!

(BTW super looking forward to you guys releasing a hybrid front bumper for the Gen 3's *wink wink*)

Covy you have absolutely made our day. This was an absolute pleasure to read. Thank you for staying patient and we look forward to future products! We will keep the hybrid bumper in mind, but as of now, the tubing and fab on the front bumper just isn't justifiable on our wallets as well as our customers. Stay tuned!

    Hey all,

I figured I should make a post saying we aren't dead yet!

Still nothing going on lately. We've had a few setbacks in production that are making us focus on that solely right now.

We're still super excited to get these swing outs going, and we know you guys are too.

So thanks for staying with us through the tough months. We look forward to seeing them on your rigs!

No price has been posted yet, probably won’t put any pricing up until all testing is complete. You can see the pricing for the bumper alone on our website.

I checked this thread last night. Was hoping I just missed the release of the swing outs.

I know you guys will get them done ASAP. I’ll be waiting.

    Thanks for the update.

Im a big fan of your bumper design. I really want to pick up this swing-out version but I can see it’s going to take some time. Would it be possible for you to sell your standard version bumper with just the swing-out mounts installed? (Assuming those are good to go)
That way I can get my bumper powder coated and installed and just add the swing-outs later?

I wish we could but we have not had time to finalize the spindle design yet.

I ordered my standard rear bumper in June. Was set to be done end of this month. Now another 4 week delay due to steel shortage. Swing arm model was in the works and tentative for MARCH. Haven't had the time since March to finish the spindle design? I can always retrofit the standard bumper whenever the swing arm edition is available... But yeah, I agree with @elmontemike - seems like there are other issues at play than just "material shortages".

First world problems. Keep calm and grind on.

We’re doing what we can on our end, but keep in mind we’re a smaller company with less staff than some of the big guys. Steel prices are up around 200% and availability is down. Everything combined has set us back on the time line. As far as I know we’re still the only company even attempting to make these products a reality for you guys.

    Cheers fellas

I apologize for thinking aloud. I wasn't trying to piss in anyone's cheerios. I am an engineer, but yes it is from a keyboard (software engineer)
I understand why material prices will delay shipments and production. I am not upset at waiting however long it takes for a bumper to be made and delivered in the current climate. You guys have been great communicators with these issues, and have responded promptly to all my inquiries. I wish I could say the same for half the places out there making and selling stuff these days.

I am trying to understand why material prices prevent a design from moving forward if you thought you were close 6 months ago? Perhaps you don't have ANY material to produce and test the next revision of the spindles with? Getting the spindles right are one of the hardest parts of the swing arm designs, from what I have heard.

First world problems. Keep calm and grind on. :crapstorm:

Untill you own your own business or work for yourself, you dont know what its like, or how you are at the mercy of other companies to do their job so you can do yours.
Regardless of promises made, in todaya world any of those dates are tentative. I have a front bumper coming from one place, a camper from another, i fully expected to wait a year or more for both.

We appreciate the understanding. Obviously there’s much more too it but we don’t need to get to the nitty gritty of running a business, designing products, testing, bringing to market, etc.

But in short, more expensive material = less budget for R&D. Less material availability = all the material we get going towards proven products that are selling well.

We’ll keep everyone posted and we are hoping material starts to turnaround on price and availability. We do feel terrible that we haven’t been able to meet our tentative deadlines and that we have had to push our order ETA’s out. It’s not what we want to do but when your up against a rock and a hard place you don’t have many options. We’re trying to be transparent and up front with everyone as best as possible too.

couldn’t agree more. Sometimes we’re over here just scratching our heads wondering why we don’t become greeters at Walmart haha

I own two of my own businesses and work for myself in those. But these are nothing like what Apogee is doing, fair. I work a full time job for a large company as well. I design and fabricate many things, I just don't work with metal too much. I am trying to better understand the relationship between the design process and material costs in this space. Which, @Apogee Offroad just offered some insights on. I'll shut up now and wait happily for my bad ass rear bumper.

    Keep calm and grind on!

I own two vastly different businesses. One is just based on my mental expertise. The other is product, andni need steel to make my stuff. Its not hanging on trees.
