you say it worked on your 2009 is the 2011 the same really would like to have the intermittent wiper option on my truck ?

 

Any of the stalks will work on any Tacoma from '05 and up.
The difference in the 3 part numbers is the direction of the rotation of the delay and whether you get words or symbols.

You mean on the longer cables? That's the only thing I changed.

Yes. I leave it in the bag behind the rear seat and clamp to the battery when I need to use it. That also lets me hook it up to other vehicles.

Not with the stock configuration. I tried installing a 12v adapter in the bed for other tools, but it corroded within a year and has been useless (ditto for the one I put under the hood).

I supposed you could run a wire from the positive side of the battery to a terminal and use the factory clips on the compressor on that terminal, and ground....

I would just lengthen the cables honestly. It's easier and more versatile. The compressor has a 30amp fuse in it, so you want to take that into account if you're not hooking it straight to the battery. That's more than most other automotive compressors I've seen, so yes it will run the battery down if you're not careful.

I've run it for a few minutes with the ball inflation tip to blow out equipment with the engine off without problem. I also have the tow package with bigger battery, and 130amp alternator to charge it back up quicker too.

 

oh alright sounds awesome, id most likely use it to either fill a flat on the road, or take it with my on biking trips to quickly fill up tires, so i wouldnt run it for more than 5-10 minutes if i used it

 

I had the MV50 for a while. Absolutely awesome compressor when it works.
But it has a relatively short life.
In my case, the one-way flapper valve inside the head broke off. This was easy to predict, considering it was a simple piece of spring steel that was always being flexed back and forth when the compressor ran. Think what happens when you do that to a paperclip.
If you need a backup compressor, this is about the best there is. Great for keeping as a spare, or for times of emergency.
If you need a compressor for dedicated OBA, this is NOT what you want! I am speaking from experience here!! I had fabricated a nice mount for it, ran dedicated lines along my frame with a fitting front and back. I got eight complete air-ups (from 18psi to 38psi) out of it before it left me with one half-filled tire in Mojave.
If you are looking to do OBA, you will want a compressor that can handle it. This is why ARB and ViAir are so popular.
If you want a compressor that beats ARB or ViAir in all ways (except weight or size), check out the Puma 12V compressor from Buzzard Gulch on eBay. It cost me $230 shipped to my door. It flows 3.5cfm at 100% duty cycle, and comes with a 1.5-gallong tank. The problem with it is size: If you are like me and want to mount it somewhere, you're going to be hard-pressed to find a spot for it. And forget about putting it in the engine bay, unless you re-route your intake like I did (search "different approach to a snorkel").
If you want help, tips, or pointers on putting together your OBA, let me know. I've had mine up and running flawlessly for about a year now, including 3-gallon tank, air bags, and connectors front & back.

Yes, you can find many reviews online praising the MV50. But you can find just as many saying the exact opposite, usually from those who need it more for OBA purposes than for the occasional flat tire. Just note the purpose and use the reviewer needed it for, and how long s/he had it, and how much use s/he put it through.

 

After reading the instructions for the intermittent wiper mod, I ordered the part and just finished successfully installing it on my 2013 regular cab Tacoma. Thanks to those of you sharing your expertise on this installation. Someone mentioned having a beer afterward. I managed to complete the job despite having two pints beforehand. I was puzzled by how to access the tab holding the unit in place until realizing it is necessary too turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to expose the tab. I blame it on the beer beforehand. The unit works fine although the intermittent function works opposite the picture on the stick.

Huh. That's pretty sweet. Video looks like it works really well. You have experience with the name brand stuff compared to this? Also where did you buy it at? Never heard of the place he said he got his.

 

I haven't purchased the LEDs yet for the Dome light, Map light mod, but attempted to remove the lenses on the three lights using a driver with tape as mentioned in most of the posts here on TW.
Instead of a risking marring the plastic surround on the lights, I "borrowed" a plastic Tupperware Citrus peeler from the kitchen. The plastic is flexible, so you have to use care and patience, but it will pop the lenses off without a chance of marring the plastic surround.

They sell it at Lowes. I used some other stuff similar to it on a project for my Camaro and it's the same but much less expensive.

"Peel n seal" Ive used this stuff a dozen times on several vehicles. It works great and at a fraction of the cost of other sound deadening materials. It IS thinner but works well...you can always double up if you want. It sticks well through summer heat too. They sell it in wide rolls like the video and in thinner rolls.
