Still warming up to the idea of switching over to a Tacoma. My inclination is go with a Crew Cab, 4x4, Longbed. I like the look and function of the 6ft bed, but there are sure a lot more shortys running around. Question. Can you fit two dirt bikes in the bed of a short bed Taco with the tailgate down and a tail gate extender in place?
    Thanks,
    mg

I went through that whole thread and there isn't one picture with two full size dirt bikes in a short bed, loaded straight in with a tail gate extender in place. I don't want to use the "Ready Ramp" that converts from a ramp to a tail gate extender. I want to use a regular ramp and an AMP Research or other tail gate extender wrapped around the back tires of two dirt bikes loaded in straight. I have seen this set up in a Ridgeline by the way. What say you Taco dirt bikers?

yes, they will fit, but I don't think with an extender on the short beds

I know mine only has 1 bike in it but this might give you a better idea. My buddy has a LB and he can fit 2 bikes in his pretty easily. I'm sure you can get 2 in a SB as well.

It sure looks like the back tire hangs off the back a little too far to get a tail gate extender in place.
    Thanks,

That is the reason I did not get a bed exteder for this one. I had one on my 1st gen though and it worked great.

I dont got any pics now but i got a short bed and can fit 3 fairly easily but the bed extender doesnt fit them just tail gate down. Also had 2 surfboards and lots of gear loaded around it lol.

I have 3 dirt bikes (250, 400, 500) and they all stick out about as much as this pic (rear tire contact in middle of gate), but only two will reasonably fit at one time. I just make sure everything is tied down securely and nothing will fly out the open gate.

One more pic, had about 3 inches of up travel left with the stock 3 leaf pack and Icon aal. We only hit the bumpstops when we got to the riding area, not bad for 3 fat guys and 1 kid.
