A little of this and a little of that.
Great idea for a mod Josh. When you get it sorted out I'll have to add it to my "to do" list.

I have also been looking for a mod like this .
On my 2010 sport , as soon as you get into the cab and close the drivers door , the interior light dims and you cant see the ignition . It would be great if we could adjust the interior light timing to fade a little later . Not sure if you have the same issue on the 13 , but imagine you do , thus the reason for the mod . If you plan to tie into the interior lighting circuit , they will dim shortly after the door is closed

This mod is a great idea, but I have to say that the dark 4x4 switch irritates me more. I'll be keeping an eye on this one. If it turns out to be simple enough, I may do it.

Alright everyone we have liftoff! As per L J's EXCELLENT observation, ILL+ and ILL- (Pins 3 and 6 respectively) are indeed for the LED. I successfully got the LED to light up!

Now all it will take is getting the factory harness wired up and tied into the dome light for these 2 leads. Pics below of the 4th gen test dummy. Take note the 4th gen ring has a white LED, where based on my experience in a 2013 4Runner, the 5th gen ring LED is probably amber....which is a bummer for me being a 12+ with the white and green factory scheme lol.

Only thing I need to do now is verify the Tacoma harness is not wired for those pins and then I'll get all the wiring done this weekend and also post a wiring diagram of the amplifier harness up momentarily.

I'll update the original post with the wiring diagram. I apologize it is a little low quality. Had to upsize it because it was so small and hard to see. Both green leads are what need to be wired for LED function.

Yes I sure will! I won't get around to it until the weekend, but I will get it done. And I'll borrow my fiancé's Nikon DSLR camera so picture quality will be up 1000% lol.

I'm a novice when it comes to wiring but if I can get it done anyone can.

Lol I'll get everything squared away so everyone of all experience levels can knock this mod out.

They run 30 seconds after you close the door of right after if the key is in the ignition...so I think that's enough time

ok so if it's pins 3 & 6, they are already populated from the Tacoma plug?
So we would need to bring the dome + - and wire tap them to the leads going to those pins?

I need to verify there are pins/terminals/whatever you call the slots the pins slide in to in the Tacoma wiring harness, and if they are present in the harness we are 100% go for the next and final phase of just wiring everything up.

And yes, just run a + and - in the respective harness slots for those pins and then to the proper dome circuit.

I looked up 2005 - 2014 tacoma and it appears that they all use the same part number.

Great idea/mod! Looking forward to this last update for the connector. Hope they mate up properly. It'll be a fun addition to the truck. Thanks!

    Sub'd!

I hope there's a white 5th gen 4Runner ring. That could be a deal killer for me

There might be for trail edition 4Runners as I am pretty sure they run white gauges but I could be totally wrong. From what I remember the part number might just be universal across 5th gen 4Runner models but I can't search it at school right now, for whatever reason the Toyota catalogue is blocking my assigned IP address.

Worst case scenario you could find a white LED replacement and have it soldered in. Removal of the cover piece to visualize the circuit board gives limited access to the LED solder points for replacement. It would be tight but can be done.

I know that's a lot to add on to an already $108 part so I know it dissuades some.
