need seatbelt help

my girlfriends dad and i were changing my stock speakers out in the back seat of my 2003 extended cab and when we unbolted the rear seatbelt it reeled all the way in and locked now it wont unlock any suggestions for this?

 

Normally if you pull real gently straight out from the retractor it will unlock.

 

I am not familiar with that specific seat belt, but most Toyota belts that I have seen have a translucent cover over the ratchet mechanism. The cover is usually marked "DO NOT REMOVE." If you remove that cover, you can release the ratchet and pull the belt out.

For the future, always remember to clip something to the belt just above the reel, so it can't retract. I use a binder clip, but a c-clamp or vise-grips or a spring clip would work, too.
