The Truck Shop San Diego

I called the Truck Shop based on good recommendations from fellow users. I talked to the gal who answered the phone and explained that I wanted my set of 5100"s installed on the front of my truck. I explained to her that maybe I could schedule a time to be seen because I would be waiting at the shop for the work to be done and didn't want to wait to be seen. She said to come on in, the only jobs they were working on were fluid changes and they would be done with those soon. I thought it was my lucky day so I head to the shop and they took my information. I believe it was james who came to help me and asked what height i wanted the shocks set at. I told him i wasn't sure and I wanted to ask him some questions about it. He said he'd be right back with a tape measure and we could figure it out. 1 Hour later……… 1 Hour !!!! He finally comes to me with some figures, no tape measure but explains to me about the settings. I figured this would be a 2 hour job, NOPE. 3 hrs later someone pulls my truck up in front and leaves keys with truck shop. I guess they have someone else do alignment ( and probably install the shocks also) so 4.5 hours after I show up my truck is done. I would've left the truck and scheduled a ride home. That is why I called in the first place. I guess their work is good ( or some other shop that did it) my wheels haven't fallen off yet

 

In all fairness the gal shoulda confirmed with the techs in back, & theres a more than likely chance that James knew what his techs were doing basically but wasn't aware of where they were on those said jobs, its still about a 2 hour job not rushing it, & he's only 1 guy , maybe got side tracked with another/bigger issue, not to say or convey your job was any less important but hell you know that shit happens, I'm not anyones fanboy as I do 99% of my own work & the dealings I've had with James/Truck Shop have been great.. But most important is that its done right..

I'm amazed at the number of shops, even some that specialize in suspension can't do a simple adjustment without fucking it up ... just my $.02...

 

I just had a full lift kit done on my truck along with patching of my rear tire. Overall I had a great experience.

My first visit, the shop I purchased the rear shocks from didn't include the bushings so James had to stick the old shocks back on, which he was fine with and I took the truck back a week later. The front coil overs were adjusted a little low so I asked if he could level it with the rear. He said he would do the best he could and did not charge me anything. Perhaps the scheduling vs work time could be done better but that is up to the scheduler knowing the amount of time it takes to do things. I didn't really care as I live 4 miles away and can just ride my bike there and back.

Overall I felt he charged a reasonable if not good price for install, and I feel that I can trust his work. It is nice to have a shop that can do all these kinds of things, from general maintenance to full blown LT. It will definitely be my first choice if I do go somewhere to have work done.
