If you don't buy a set of set covers from them don't waste your time trying to get a consul cover.

I ordered a consul cover this weekend and today I received a call from one of their customer service reps.

She told me they could not find my previous order. I told her I had never placed an order with them before.

She took a few seconds to digest that and responded with "will you be placing an order for seat covers"?

    I responded no.

She then told me they only sell consul covers to people who buy or have bought their seat covers. I told her to cancel my order and I apologized for wasting her time.

I never liked their seat covers due to price point and the materials used, but I do like their consul covers. When I asked the CSR why they would not sell me the cover she told me "because people would only order that from us and get their seat covers elsewhere".

That has to be the most retarded thing I have heard from a vendor. Actively turning away customers who want to buy your product based on pure speculation that you will sell less of another product has to be one of the dumbest business decisions I have ever heard. Do people really care that much that their consul cover not matching their seat covers would be such a big idea? It's for a truck not some blinged out show car.

Wet Okole would never see an order from me for seat covers and now Ill never be a customer period.

IMO, if they are acknowledging that their seat covers won't sell, they have some R&D to do. Sounds like they're shifting the inconvenience to the customers by making them do this instead of addressing the issue. BOYCOTT!

I'd say their position isn't speculation...You were trying to do exactly what they don't want.
Does it make sense...Ehhh...IDK. I like their covers and am pleased with their follow up customer service, including all three console covers for the three cars I've put covers in.

I wouldn't go that far LOL.

I'm trying to not bash their seat covers, but lets just say there are a couple reasons I don't own them.

Now Ill never give them an order as long as I live.

Wonder if you need to be a buyer of their seat covers to buy a gun pouch? LMAO

I can see their point and I have nothing against it.
Just like a bank not letting you use their coin counter if you don't bank there.

Their covers sell just fine. They are the only ones who take the time to build the console covers...so if they want to reap the benefits of being the sole producer of cover by turning away customers...Their choice, and I'm guessing the business model works for them cause they still do it...

They want to leverage people into buying their seat covers.

Ive had my seat covers for years.

Instead of trying to entice me into a set of seat covers in the future by showing me how great their consul covers are - they do the exact opposite and piss me off thus losing the chance of ever selling me anything in the future.

I get both sides of the discussion - I just think one side is retarded.

Since you "see it" and agree with it what is their point?

No they are not. Multiple companies offer them.

They just have the most comfortable ones I have had my elbow on.

Fair enuf-I've never seen them anywhere else, but I got mine when I bought my covers so I didn't really shop for them either...so replace "sole" with "best"...

You're not a customer, you are a consumer. That product is for customers. Sure they might miss 1/1000 sales over a consumer getting excessively bent out of shape that wants to take advantage of their additional products they offer, but the 999 customers are more important. Their not in the console cover selling business, they are in the seat cover selling business. Do you ask your tailor to cut your hair?

The other ones I have seen are much nicer quality and built by companies like coachworks etc.

I just wanted something cheap and padded.

You would think to them a sale is a sale, money earned should be money appreciated. Seems like stupid business sense to me.
I used to work at a (now out of business) computer retail store and saw countless numbers of times where the general manager would tell the sales associate to tell a customer that we did not have a laptop in stock because the customer would not buy the service plan after being gangbanged by every manager there trying to pressure them into buying it. No wonder they are out of business now.

Just something to consider but maybe their consol covers actually cost more for them to make than they'd sell them for but the cost is typically offset by buying the complete set. If you're an existing customer, they try to keep the cost for a single replacement piece low but they may not actually make money selling just the consol cover. I don't know if that's actually the case or not, just something to consider.

    semantics...

they are also in the gun cover, pet leash, lumbar pump, sunglass pocket, selling business

No, I get my hair cut by my mechanic.

Both of your analogies are horrific so you may want to not try and sound smart using them - it only backfires.

    Why are you in here?

You provide two horrific analogies that make zero sense to the topic.

You "see" why they do it but can not explain why when I honestly wanted to know and asked you.

Then you resort to name calling when called out for being a troll.

Did I miss something? Usually I'm the asshole, but you sure win that in this thread.

That's a free service. Customers offer to pay for the console covers separately. It's more like a tire shop not rotating your tires unless you bought them from that shop to me.

I don't think just because it's a small amount of customers means that they shouldn't sell to those consumers. That explanation doesn't really justify their reasoning.

If they are in the seat cover business and acknowledge their seat covers don't sell, then I stick to my original position; make a better product, don't rely on console covers since they're "Not in the console cover selling business".

And I bet if my tailor cut hair as well, he wouldn't turn me down for a haircut for not getting my clothes sewn.
