So far I have found this book very helpful. It's a pretty good step by step book. I am not a serious mechanic, but can do the basics. With this book, I have changed out my water pump, adjusted my valves, bled my brakes, changed out my transmission fluid and filter, spark plugs, front and rear brakes, coolant change (though it is not very descriptive about where the engine drain plug is), and other standard maintenance stuff. So far, so good.

As per usual this is a good book to keep in the vehicle. It has clear photos and simple wording to help you get through most repairs with basic skills. As long as you have the tools or access to them. It is probably not as good or as detailed as the Toyota shop manual but, then it is not as expensive either. The item was shipped quickly and was exactly what I expected from the producer. I always buy one of theses books for on-the-road repairs.

My Tacoma was crunched by a semi's tire casing. I got this manual and I wish I'd read it before replacing the front struts. I did try to find more in depth information on the 4x4 system but I didn't find it. I buy a Haynes manual for ever vehicle I own, they contain gotta have information that is never in the manufacturer's owner's manual.

This is the most worthless shop manual I've ever seen! It has almost no electrical diagrams. Modern cars and trucks are mostly electronic these days but this manual doesn't show any of that at all. The electrical wiring diagram only has 6 pages that cover the starter and generator, interior and exterior lights, warning lights, a/c, power windows and door locks, wipers and washer, audio system and cruise control. There is no mention at all of the electronic fuel injection, ignition system, ECU engine control computer, O2 sensors, electric fuel pump, emissions system or anything else that has to do with running the engine. The charging system diagram shows one wire going to a mysterious "body ecu" which must be another computer but there isn't a clue as to what that really is.
In contrast the manual for my old '81 Toyota truck has 73 pages of diagrams for just the emissions system and the manual for the '95 Nissan Maxima has 40 pages of electrical wiring diagrams!
Also, the manual has a lot of very poor photos that are all low contrast black and white showing everything as a similar shade of gray so it's hard to make out any details.
The fact that I had to wait for 2 months for this manual to be shipped and that Amazon has no other shop manual from this century for late model vehicles is also very disappointing.

It doesn't help so much in the troubleshooting department, but if you can narrow the issue down, this manual probably has enough information to guide you through the repair. I've used this for several maintenance procedures on my 2010 Tacoma and have found the info to be accurate, and detailed. My only problem is many of the pictures are hard to make out due to the black and white print, but also to what seems to be poor lighting when they took the photos. I know this is nothing new for Haynes/Chilton manuals.
