G.E. Grant's review was bang on. I didn't even look at the instructions that came with the lights. It also helped that my friend who helped me is very knowledgeable in car electrical stuff.

We did use the grommet in the firewall to get the wire through but it wasn't easy. My friend had a gizmo to grab the wire and pull it through. We didn't use the red wire connector either. We just put the wire into the front of the fuse panel and held it in the slot with a 5 amp fuse.

The lights themselves are of amazing quality for the price. The beam is an even flood that just nicely fills in the space below the headlights. The nice thing about wiring them in this way is that they don't go off when you put the high beams on but they shut off with the ignition. They look like they came with the truck. They are aimable. I just aimed them until there was an even space above and below the light in the housing and they seem to be perfect. The adjustment screws are a bit tricky to move. I lubed them before I installed them and then used a screwdriver to turn them once they were in. It appears they are hard to turn for a reason, so they don't go out of alignment when the truck hits bumps.

You will need some better zip ties, but the good thing is there is lots of wire to get to where you need to, too much really, but better too much than too little.

The switch was easy to install. The only minor cosmetic issue is that it lights up green when everything else is orange. No big deal to me, but it may bother some people. The switch can stick but we found it was because it is a little loose in the dash. My buddy wedged it in with some foam weather stripping and secured it with a couple of zip ties. It is now stable and doesn't stick at all.

Overall, this is an amazing product for the cost. I priced them at the dealer where you had to purchase the lights, wiring harness and switch separately and it was almost a $1000.00!!!! in fact it was the parts guy who showed me this product. He happens to be related to my buddy who helped me.

My suggestion is buy this product but have someone who knows what they're doing help you install them and put aside a few hours to do it.

Everything included in box. The challenge was the wiring placement. The wires to the lights were fine, and to the battery +/-. Finding the wires needed inside the Tacoma were a pain, so I tapped the green wire on the parking lamp, sent that / ground and the "white" wire to the switch. Based on the lengths of the wires, I connected everything just under the driver's parking lamp, and used the included wirestraps to attach everything.

Nice and bright lights. Only turn on when parking lights or full lights on (by design). You can hear the click on/off. Light switch looks factory. Took about 2 minutes to pop out the black fog light covers. Overall, a basic installation. You probably need some extra wire if you are going to tap the parking lamp instead of using the inside fuse box. Other than that, I didn't need anything additional.

I ordered these for my 2009 Toyota Tacoma. This review is specific to my vehicle...

Wow. I admit it, for the price I didn't expect much. But I wanted fog lights for my Taco, and these were within my budget. To my surprise, they fit and they work. And the dashboard switch just pops right in too. I don't have any basis for comparing them to OEM fog lights, but at least they fill the gloomy holes in the bumper. With a bit of pointing adjustment they may actually do well at lighting up poorly painted fog lines in rainy weather.

FIRST! Check to see if your Tacoma is pre-wired for fog lamps. Some models are. Mine was not. Bummer. If yours is, perhaps all you need are the lamps and switch. This kit may still be economical for that purpose.

Don't expect the instructions to be specific to Tacomas... They're in EngRish, and generic to all cars. Still, it's pretty clear what you have to do. If you haven't installed something like this before, the idea is that the power for the lights come from the battery through a relay under the hood, and a switch on the dashboard controls the relay on/off. It doesn't take much power to control the relay, so this avoids having to loop high-current wires into your vehicle.

If you're nimble, you can reach around behind the bumper and pop out the black cups that fill the fog light holes. There's two plastic tabs that hold them in. The fog lights then insert from the front, and when oriented properly will snap into position. Easy peezy. There's a fussy little nylon nut on the back of each lamp that can be used to adjust the up/down positioning.

From there, just find a good routing for the wiring. You may want extra zip-ties to hold things. The dainty little zip-ties that come with the kit are cute for under-dash wiring but not the kind of thing that will stand up to abuse. I connected the positive wire from the relay directly to the battery terminal, and the grounding wire to a bolt in the frame.

Where things get ugly is when you try to send the switch wire through the firewall. Unless you're Houdini with a coat hanger, this is going to be a problem. (The instructions are useless for this.) I found the tolerances and OEM grommets in the existing holes to be way too tight to send the wire through. Save yourself some time and [carefully!] drill a hole in the firewall. The firewall is just a single layer of metal, and a sharp bit went right through it about an inch from where the big wiring bundle goes through. Make sure there's nothing on the other side that will be unhappy about a drill bit dropping in for a visit. You might have to cut the carpet back a little for better access, nobody will ever see it. After you're done wiring things, maybe seal up the hole in the firewall with a bit of silicone.

Another gotcha is when it comes time to connect the switch wiring. The kit includes a little red clip that is supposed to pierce your car's parking light wire and connect it to the fog lamp switch. Yeah, right. Just try finding the parking light wire in a sealed bundle of spaghetti wiring. Even if I could find it, the last thing I would want to do is stab it with a cheap after-market doodad. I think the people who designed this wanted to make it generic for a lot of cars, and also somehow comply with legal requirements that your parking lights had to be on if your fog lights are on.

Here's what I did: Behind the ash tray to the left of the steering column is the fuse box. One of the slots in there (near the ignition fuses) was empty. I tested it with a volt meter and found that it was only on when the truck was running... I connected the positive wire from the fog lamp switch to one tab of a spare fuse, and plugged the fuse into the box so that it's in series with the switch. (I know, it's hard to describe without seeing it.)

The fog lamp switch can fit into one of the empty spaces in dashboard just above there, it looks OEM. Mine is a bit sticky. Again, you'll need to be agile to pop out one of the blank switch covers, or you can opt to scratch-up your dashboard by prying a cover out with a screwdriver, like I did.

So why only four stars? The instructions are goofy, and that connection clip is stupid. At first I thought the switch didn't light up, but it does. It's just not as bright as I expected. Not a big deal. The fog lights work, installation wasn't too bad, and so far I'm pleased by how bright they are.
