Tailgate to fit a 1998 Tacoma Access Cab
Tailgate is OEM level quality. Exact fit. You will need all the parts from your existing tailgate. This is just the shell. Nice dark gray primer made for a perfect paint surface. Check it over carefully for shipping damage. It's poorly packaged and prone to dents.

This by no means is an apple for apple tailgate replacement. Toyota parts are expensive for a reason! Why? Because they are heavy duty and last a long time that's why! So this replacement weighs in a while if a heck lighter than OEM, but it also coast way less. If your a casual Cali truck driver and your using your truck for groceries you'll be fine. If your doing moderate home repair you'll be fine if your doing demo and hauling and banging our rocks and boulders nope this ain't for you. You'll have to paint it or take it to Macco because it's primed black. BEFORE THE UOS/fedex GUY LEAVES INSPECT THE BOX!! Could be made a lot better but it’s an ok value.
I wish I could give 3.5 stars because I think it deserves that much, but it’s not a 4-star. The first thing I noticed was the fact that it’s a lighter gauge steel than original manufacture tailgate. I expected this but I don’t see how hard it would be to make it from the same gauge, even if it made it cost 20%-30% more it would still be a good value over the $400-ish cost of an OEM tailgate. The next thing was the top left corner was mis-shaped from the manufacturing and the sheets of metal weren’t overlapped correctly there. I had to hammer a sharp jagged corner of the sheet metal down and reprime that corner. (Sorry, no pics, had to put my truck back together.) The last thing was the cutouts for the latch rods. The original gate had oval cutouts in the ribs for the rods to pass through. ... I wish I could give 3.5 stars because I think it deserves that much, but it’s not a 4-star.
