Again Bobby Akart has done his research! This book will definitely make you realize you can’t mess with Mother Nature. I knew Yellowstone was full of mud pots and small eruptions and had stood and watched them as a child but I had no idea what a caldera was until reading Yellowstone Hellfire. With Hawaii and the Kilauea volcano being front and center on the news, I considered myself lucky I didn’t live there. I now know that no matter where I live disaster is just an eruption away. As with all of Bobby Akart’s books the scientific research is right on the spot and is an education in it’s own right but interwoven with the science is a great story with unforgettable characters and heart stopping action.The Prologue introduces us to Dr. Ashby Donovan and explains what has led her to her position as one of the best volcanologists in the world but also has left her with deep personal scars that drive her every day. Chapter 1 introduces us to Jake Wheeler, a Yellowstone Law Enforcement Ranger, who while fighting a forest fire in Yellowstone when he first discovers a fissure and the first sign of lava or as Jake puts it “Hellfire”. The characters mesh together in a perfect way and make you want to see them succeed in what becomes a battle against Mother Nature. But the star of Yellowstone Hellfire is the Yellowstone Caldera that will leave you breathless and praying that it never blows again even though almost all scientist believe it and maybe sooner than later.The pictures Bobby draws with words are scary as can be but from scientific history we know that it has happened in the past and that it can happen again. While the scientific community does not accept Dr. Donovan’s belief that the volcano will erupt, she never waivers in her belief and thankfully neither does Jake. She must fight the politically backed company that is fracking the caldera for money and power. Don’t think you are safe anywhere if Hellfire blows. Another cliff hanger from Bobby Akart that has you on the edge of your seat and unable to put down this great book, and makes you pray he won’t wait too long for the next installment.

As with all of Bobby Akart’s books the scientific research is right on the spot and is an education in it’s own right but interwoven with the science is a great story with unforgettable characters and heart stopping action.

It is always exciting when Bobby Akart begins a new series, I always look forward to seeing what catastrophe will affect the world next. This time we are taken on a journey
to Yellowstone, where the Yellowstone supervolcano was about to raise its angry head and unleash a hell on Earth that could possibly be the end of mankind. As in true Akart tradition, this story begins with a bang and an introduction of the main players of the story who will undoubtedly become good friends to us as the storyline progresses. Mr. Akart does extensive research with all of his stories and it definitely shows with this book. Though I did know a little about volcanoes, I am now getting a more in depth and interesting lesson on just what makes them a ticking timebomb. With that said, this story has scared the crap out of me! Just knowing that this in fact can and will happen some day is enough to make you lose sleep! Thank you Bobby Akart for once again writing an informative and thrilling story that will be on my mind for a long time. I will now be watching the news for all info that pertains to Yellowstone and watch for signs of a possible eruption. Due to your survival ideas in the book, I at least have an idea of what to do and what is needed if that does happen. This is definitely a story that you do not want to miss out on! I can’t wait for the next one in the series to be released!
