Did what I needed for a project. I don't know how good they would be for the pro machinist for day in and day out use, but for the weekend warrior, I've been happy with them.

This item should be in every weekend warrior's tool box. Makes center punching easy. Unknown how many punches you will get from each individual item, but they sure make the job a lot easier.

The following is my personal opinion.
Inconsistent quality:
- 2 punches got dull after just a few usages on aluminum. Surprisingly, this issue was not correlated with the thickness of a particular punch.
- The rest seem to be holding up. However, I am not sure what will happen should I move to steel.

One more thing, I am quite familiar how to use these, so no, I was not using them as a center punch, just for a light tap to mark the center. Then I'd use a tungsten spring-loaded center punch to make a dent.

I read the reviews saying that these dull with minimal use but as I need them mostly for woodworking I got them anyway. I installed a new fence on my table saw and needed to drill one hole and used one of these punches to mark the hole location. Keeping in mind folks saying that these are soft I used minimal force, just enough to mark the cast iron not trying to drive the punch through the casting so one nice solid tap and no more. Upon looking at the tip, yep, it was clearly mashed they say heat treated tool steel, ah...not so much from my observation. I used one of my grandpa's center punches to deepen the punch mark and I whaled on the thing pretty good and made a good deep mark and what do you know the tool was still pointed as it has been for more that 70 years, they made things that actually could be used more than once way back in the day.

Really a disappointment but as I can still use these successfully in the woodworking shop they will be handy to me

These punches are one of the most useful items for the price that you could imagine. Mounting anything becomes an exacting experience when using these punches to center the mounting holes.
The stand could be a little more substantial in my opinion but, what can be expected for this price? Quality punches in a so-so stand, very versatile in anyone's shop.

Works well, good price, shipped promptly, used 1/4" punch once so far to my complete satisfaction - time will tell how happy I am with complete set

I've used this a few times now, tips show no sign of wear, for the home hobbyist a solid useful tool.
