The ShurTrax All Weather Traction Aid for Full Size Pickup Trucks and SUVs safely and cleanly adds handling, traction control and traction weight over the rear axle, preventing axle hop and wheel hop. Simply add up to 400 pounds of water using a simple garden hose along with the included fill fitting. Four brass grommet tie-downs allow for safe, secure weight that improves vehicle balance, handling, cornering and traction on wet, slippery roads. ShurTrax answers the safety concerns of alternative sources of weight such as sandbags, concrete blocks, cord wood and other potential projectiles. Baffles are die-electrically welded into place to prevent surging during cornering. No need to worry about carrying cargo on top of ShurTrax, it has been tested to support 500 pounds. ShurTrax integrity is protected by a tough 25 millimeter vinyl outer chamber. This outer chamber vinyl is UV resistant and reinforced with woven nylon mesh for long service.     I purchased this product back in 2019 after moving from California to Colorado with mMy truck was only 2WD Dodge Ram 1500 and was concerned about driving in the snow without a 4WD truck. I have to say this exceeded my expectations. Worth the purchase. It worked good at giving me that extra weight needed without having to place sand or salt bags in the bed. I would recommend this to anyone who had a 2WD vehicle to assist with weight and dont want the mess in the bed. This will not replace chains through in harsh weather. I'm interested in how long it will last.

    I use to use sand bags and bricks. The sand bags are messy especially if they get water then they're rolling all over the place when they harden. The bricks to bulky and get messy too takes up space in the bed. The sure Trac bladder is low profile and it doesn't slosh around they baffles real work well. The ride is smooth super great traction most of times didn't have to use 4x4 it keeps that back end stable with weight. I'll always use it even during rainy season.

    I recently purchased the Full Size ShurTrax for my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 2x4. Just put a set of 4 new All-Terrain tires on the truck toward the end of Summer. Prior to getting my ShurTrax system we got an early snow storm in October. Drove to work after the storm and fishtailed taking off at some intersections even though I gently accelerated. Tired of sliding around, I ordered ShurTrax online from Amazon, received it the next day! Good thing, since a snowstorm was due that night. Put the ShurTrax in the truck bed and used the garden hose attachment to fill it up. I will agree with other posts that threading the filler attachment onto the ShurTrax fill plug neck is a challenge, as is pulling the filler neck up in order to couple the hose to it. (My husband was finally able to do it, but with some difficulty) Once attached,was able to fill it up within minutes. Now 3 snowstorms later, one with ice underneath the snow, I must say my husband and I both noticed a huge difference how the truck handles on the roads. Now while driving with the ShurTrax installed, it is obvious that there is more weight in the truck bed and it handles so much better. Driving the truck in the early morning after a night of 3-4 inches of snow accumulation and before the snow/salt trucks had were out, I was able to take off and stop effectively from intersections where previously I had slid and fishtailed on. Going up snowy hills is also much easier. Now I can drive more confidently in the snow, while still using the appropriate amount of caution and adjusting my driving for the current road conditions. Wish I had a ShurTrax years ago. It is well worth the price for the added peace of mind and improved handling in the snow. I've already recommended it to people I know.

    I bought this a couple of years ago when I moved from West Texas to Washington state. Before I moved up north, I had never had any exposure to frozen precipitation on the roads but I had fish-tailed on wet roads enough times to know anything frozen would be a problem. I thought about sand bags at first but since I have a fully carpeted and covered bed, I wanted something a little "cleaner". The product works as advertised -- I throw it in the back of my truck and fill it up at the gas station before it gets cold enough for them to store their water hose for the winter. Because of my bed cover and carpet bed liner, the water inside never freezes and I essentially end up with a big water bed mattress in the back. I haven't had to tie it up and it stays in place just fine, but this will probably not be the case for any exposed truck beds. I'm able to place just about anything on top of it and it definitely improves traction. This sucker is almost impossible to move once filled.

    The only complaint I have comes at the end of the winter when I have to empty it. Due to the 'X' shaped channels on it, I can never get all the water completely out. This of course means that when I've removed as much water from it as possible, the darn thing still weighs a good 50 pounds and doesn't fold very easily for storage the rest of the year. This is the only reason I don't give it 5 stars.

    The ShurTrax fits nicely in the bed of a 2006 Ram 1500 Quad Cab pick-up. My truck is rear wheel drive with 20 inch tires and traveling in the snow was a real challenge. I definitely notice a big difference in how the truck handles, especially in snow and rain. I feel safer driving in snow/rain but remember to use common sense and caution when driving in any inclement weather whether you are in a 4 wheel drive vehicle or a vehicle with ShurTrax.

    For anyone wondering if the ShurTrak is worth the money read the following... Last winter I was at a stop waiting to make a left hand turn and a small Subaru car traveling 50 mph hit me from behind causing $8000 damage to my vehicle and totalling his vehicle. I had 2 rubbermaid containers (120 pounds of stone in each container) securely tied down with 2 inch ratchet straps in the bed of my truck. Both containers were jolted loose, flipped over and had stretch marks from the impact of the accident. Thankfully I have a tool box installed in the bed of the truck that might have prevented the containers from going through the rear window. In my opinion the ShurTrak is certainly worth the $132 I spent. I now have peace of mind knowing that I have added weight for traction and I don't have to worry about it becoming a projectile in the back of my truck.
