here's fixes for your problems...
After reading all the problem reviews here, I still went ahead and rounded up three of these, one a great deal on Amz Warehouse, two for almost as good a price at our local BiMart. I have to transport water from one campground to the one we live in (by ebike/trailer no less!)- mgmnt is clueless and poisons/overchlorinates the well...and/or loses prime on the pump almost weekly! Anyhoo, in these uncertain times, it's best to have two weeks worth of water no matter what so...*The fixes*:*leaking at spigot threads*: Pic 1 and 2- stretch a simple garden hose rubber gasket/washer onto the threads of the spigot! Push it doen so it's flush. It can sit either horizontal or vertical, it's a square washer so either way works. Leaking cured. Bonus- now you can adjust the spigot so it's vertical when using the container on its side, as intended! (can't blv no one has thought of this hack!) 🙄🤔🚰*The vent*: search here on Amazon for them. (pic 3) Replace silly push plug. Done. 🚫💦👍*The plastic smell*: Dump 1/2 box household baking soda in. Fill with COLD water. Seal. Let sit in shade three days. Agitate/mix/change position once or twice a day. After three days, dump/rinse/repeat two or three times. Done. Smell gone.Your water storage container(s) is/are now ready for use. You're welcome. 🚰👍

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice jugs, fit well in tight spaces and easy to carry
Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2020
I bought these because they fit EXACTLY in the under cabinet of my tiny travel trailer sink. One for fresh water and one for grey water. Now I have 7 gallons of each in containers that are easy to fill and easy to hold. The spigot in the lid screws out so I could put the hose through it on the freshwater, and I can still seal it if I need to carry it for a distance.
