Customers are mixed about the portability of the sleeping mat. Some mention that it is sturdy, firm, and light to carry, while others say that it's too bulky for hiking and perfect for car camping. The attached straps make it easy to roll into a compact package, and it can go any were wonderfully. However, some say that the foam insert of one XXL was less than 2" thick and definitely 2-3" shorter in length. They're clearly not designed for backpacking, so any added weight wouldn't matter.

Customers are mixed about the value of the sleeping mat. Some mention it's a tad bulky upon roll up but well worth the expense, while others say it was so cheap, the foam is the cheapest and not at all high quality, and the inflated matersses are an absolute waste of money for camping purposes.

First, the total length is 84 inches, but the usuable length is only 79. The other 5 inches is at the head of the pad and is designed to hang over the end of the cot with a small zippered pouch, supposedly for valuables or maybe an mp3 player, and a flat wood slat to assist in rolling the pad back up. Laying on my stomach my toes still hang over the end, but that's much better than my ankles, and on my back I'm completely on the pad. It's wide enough for both me and my 45lb Labrador to lay on and the material feels sturdy enough to stand up to years of use. It's almost as comfortable as a real bed, and much more comfortable than any other sleeping mat I've used.
It doesn't come with a transport bag so while I may look for something in the future for now I kept the boxes to store them in. The cinch straps are heavy duty nylon with snap-lock buckles, sewn onto the pad itself. That plus the slat at the other end makes it really easy to roll them up tight, or if you want roll them up really loose so the pad isn't compressed between camping trips. There's also a zippered pocket at the head that you could put a pillow into, but since I like flipping my pillow over while sleeping I doubt I'll ever be using it.
As other reviewers have stated, this isn't a pad for backpacking. And it is wide so it'll take up more space in the car than most camping pads. But if comfort is what you're looking for, you can't go wrong with this pad.
Update Sept "13: because this pad didn't come with a storage/carrying bag I had been storing them in the original boxes until I could find a bag the right size. I couldn't find anything this size that opened on the end, not because of the diameter of the rolled pad but because of the length. I first tried a 16" x 40" duffle bag which was 2" larger in both diameter and length than the measured rolled pag, and while once inside the bag the pad did fit perfectly it took too much tucking and forcing to get it in. I ended up with the Northstar 1050 HD Tuff Cloth Diamond Ripstop Series Gear/Duffle Bag (18-Inch x 42-Inch) . The rolled pad goes in and out of the bag smoothly and there's a little extra room so you don't have to roll the pad tightly.
Plus Side:
* Construction seems like it will hold up
* The color will disguise minor dirt stains
* The cover is removable
* The clasp system is sturdy
* Fabric construction makes it non-slip
Con:
* Price was higher than I was shooting for. In the end I'd have to say at it was priced (at $77) comparatively with alternatives. I looked at yoga mats for a cheaper option, but they came in about the same. The removable cover on the pad made the difference
* Foam density. The foam should be denser for adult use. Saying that, it's still provides another level of cushion. I did take the extra step of inserting a thin high density camping pad in with the stock foam since I had it anyway. I'd recommend doing this. The clasps still managed to close when the pad was rolled up - but it was close
* Moisture. I'm not sure how resistant the cover is. I'm assuming it will not do well against any type of standing water. This shouldn't be a problem for a practiced camper. Again, since it has two components drying it out wouldn't be hard
I did just order another one for my boy to use on the ground. The pad rolls up small enough for car camping. It will be more important to stay clear of depressions or other areas prone to standing water. Water-proof sleeping bag covers for daytime storage are a good idea anyway.
Top reviews from other countries
This pad is more than I could have hoped for. It is thoughtfully designed, exceptionally well made, and extremely durable. The cover is removable for washing, if necessary, (I haven't needed to do that as yet) and the XXL pad is large enough (width and length) for a big guy like me (6 foot, 300lbs). It's comfortable enough to use right on the ground or floor and even has a built-in pillow pouch to keep your head-rest from wandering off in the middle of the night. The pad rolls up easily with a sturdy, but light, built-in roller bar and has rugged tie-down straps and carry handle sewn into the cover.
The company must have some Eagle Scouts working on their team, or at least enough frustrated, sleep-deprived campers who wanted to build a better mousetrap... because they've done it marvelously with this unit. This is one heavy-duty sleeping pad intended for drive-in camping (definitely not for backpacking). Once the XXL cot arrives (which this pad cleverly attaches to with bungee loops at each of the corners) I have no doubt the combo will be even more impressive; both out in the bush or when an extra bed is needed in our small home.
This is a definite WINNER!
Update…. The combination of the cot and mat together is a winner. Keeping in mind this is a rather thin mattress pad sitting on a cot that has just a bit of sag in the middle it is pleasantly comfortable but not like a bed. A raise to 4 stars
