Beware of the battery compartment door!
Admittedly, it doesn’t get a lot of use, but it’s a terrific little device when I want to go sailing.The problem is with the battery compartment cover/door. It has tiny, very weak, plastic tabs that lock it in place when it’s closed, and these break when you’re not even touching the device.I removed it from the pouch I keep it in on my boat; a location where nothing touches it, and found the battery compartment lid was ajar.When I unscrewed it, I found one of the little tabs was missing and the entire assembly, being spring loaded, flew apart.Apparently the spring inside the lid isn’t fastened to anything, so it flew out, along with one of the batteries. Now I can’t find the lid, as it dropped somewhere into the bottom of the boat.As I said in the beginning, it’s a terrific little device and quite accurate, but the unit’s “Achilles’ Heel” is the tiny little tabs on the battery cover door that are not strong enough to withstand the little spring that is inside of the lid.If I can get another lid, I will reinforce it with some electrical tape to ensure that this does not happen twice. Otherwise, the unit is a complete loss, as I can’t use it without batteries.

This is the only anemometer I've ever owned so I have nothing to compare it to but it seems very well made and - as far as I can tell - accurate. It's obviously quite a delicate instrument but it's been made as ruggedly as possible and has a well designed protective cover and lanyard. It feels like it'll last a long time.
