I must concur with the other reviews that caution making sure to drill the correct sized hole. The design of this jack is such that it allows for installation without removal of any dash or console assemblies because it is tapered with friction rings spaced ~1 mm (~1/32") apart and can be installed from the finished side. For those of us who can or want to install from behind, this design is not ideal because the female aux jack is a tight fit and unplugging anything from the finished side will pull it out of the hole because the friction rings are too stiff to grip properly. Since I did not want to mess with the permanence that super glue would result in, I opted for another solution. I ended up utilizing a nylon washer and an "E" ring for each car. I put the washer in as a spacer and slipped the "E" ring in behind it. An "E" ring is just the right thickness that it slips into the space between the friction rings and prevents the aux jack from being pulled out from the finished side. Any well stocked hardware store (Ace, TruValue, etc) will have a good selection of different sized "E" rings. It may take some trial and error (I bought 2 each 7/16" and 3/8" at about 30 cents apiece) to get a good snug fit, but to me this was preferable to super glue because I can uninstall these in the future if I want to.
As for the functionality, they worked first time off the bat, no hum, no glitches. I'm very pleased and now have full bluetooth operation from my iPhone 4S in a 15 and 12 year old Honda.
This was so simple to install. It comes with everything you need to create an aux port in your car dash. My car stereo came with an aux function and rear input but it did not have an anterior aux input (which most do now). All I needed to do was drill a small hole (1/4") beneath my a/c controls and then after removing the dash I ran the included audio wire back to the rear of my stereo, plugged it in, and then installed the front portion of the aux input. I applied some CA glue (aka super glue) to the surfaces of the front aux input because I had read some reviews about it coming loose when you pull your audio cable out. Within 15 minutes my car was ready!
This enabled me to use my voice navigation feature of my phone GPS which automatically interrupts my music when I am using both at the same time. It also enabled me to purchase a bluetooth hands-free device for answering phone calls and controlling my music/audio books while driving. You still have to control your audio with your phone if you don't have a bluetooth device.
Overall, great product which has worked flawlessly for the last 2 months since I installed it. Wish I would have looked for something similar 8 years ago when I first got my car.
From a design standpoint, the female receiver has tapered flexible ridges, and so while it is a good fit for the hole you drill, the amount of pressure and friction is not enough to hold it in place if you're going to reach for the plug and just pull. Meaning, there's really nothing holding it in place from the backside of the dash. One reviewer used a washer and some super glue, but I simply go easy on removing the plug so it doesn't pull the female connector out of the dash. The upside to this design is you won't need access to the backside in order to screw on a back plate or washer. You simply drill a hole, feed the wire through, and fish the entire wire/plug from the outside, then push the female receiver into the dash.
For the price, I'm good with the results and simply more careful when I unplug my iPod or Android device. If you want something that mounts without this issue, there are some other more expensive versions available that have a washer & nut that hold it in place from behind the dash.

The only thing I had to add was a suitable nut for the aux port as it didn't come with one.
